I agree. My books are beautifully formatted, and if I may boast, the content is a higher quality, compared to other books in my niche. And I believe that a higher price keeps potential customers from scrolling past.

I can confirm that. When I shop Amazon I don’t ever get the lowest priced item unless it’s simple and something I don’t plan to keep very long. But I don’t get the most expensive either. I tend to go with the middle price. Then go with design quality.

This video is now 3 years old. You said all your books are priced @ $6.99 in 2020. Are you still pricing them all at $6.99 in Oct. 2023? Secondly, what is the minimal number of pages that a KDP paperback should contain for a $6.99 sale price? Would you price a 033 page paperback the same as a 133 page paperback? Thirdly, where can I go to get detailed information on the Amazon KDP royalty payments? How do you calculate how much money you make from an $11.00 paperback sale? Is there a production cost for a KDP paperback that the author / creator incurs? Is this already explained in a previous video? Thanks.

There is no profit as you are not selling anything, Amazon is selling your books. You receive royalties from Amazon, you set the amount when you upload your book to Amazon by determining the price. If you run this as a business, then your profit is all your royalties you receive minus any expenses like subscriptions and tools.

I just saw the formula. For print books, your royalty is 60% of your list price minus the printing cost. I was hoping the print cost would come out first, and the net profit would be divided 60/40, this is not the case. Amazon gets 40% of list price. You get 60% but you also pay for the printing costs. I hope this is helpful to someone as your question was asked a year ago, but I couldn't help responding since the information is fresh in my mind.

I want to upload 2 books at the same time for KDP, one is main book and second is a companion like guide book but I want to list them together under one price, just not sure how to do that and I haven't found any videos to help with that topic.

Unfortunately that can't be done on KDP. You would have to have an Amazon seller account, get a printer to print your books and then list them on Amazon as a bundle. You would then also have to ship them to your buyers.

Yes, definitely. Like I said, it's not about the cheapest. And you can adjust your price any time if you feel it will benefit from being cheaper or more expensive later. A lot of this is about trying different strategies and seeing which works best.

Did you say that the authors name NEED to be on the cover. I have used my business domain name, Bringing Forth The Best In Our Kids, because we have had a team making the book,

No, it doesn't need to be on the cover if it's a low content book like a journal or a log book, but if it is higher content then I would definitely add it.

@@TheHomeBoss We have our full name on the inside of the cover on the copyright page. We also have pics of us, and more about us on the inside of the back cover. Do you think that would be okay? I heard from a woman say that Amazon would reject it if it was not a name, real or not. Our business team name Is Bringing Forth the Best in Our Kids, so we were thinking that it would be nicer than sticking our name on the bottom. We are ready to launch and this might be the only glitch if we do need to add it. it didn't say we couldn't in the KDP instructions in the slot where the author names are, If it is a ficticious (sp?) name, it has to go through a process with them.

@@crystalpresence3632 Amazon have recently been rejecting names that are not strictly names because people have been using keywords in them, which is not allowed. However, as it is your business name, I would maybe contact Amazon and just clear it with them to be on the safe side. I'm sure it will be fine but this would put your mind at rest and would hopefully ensure that one of Amazon's bots doesn't reject it. Great idea about having more information on the copyright page. Please I have a question. A book that is printed at 4,99 and they said the minimum price for the book should be 10,56. I put the Price at 10,99. What do I actually get? If the royalty in some places is 40 and some none. What would be the gain in both areas?

How do I change the price of my book if the actual price is printed on the ISBN /Barcode on the back of my book?

They give you an option to not print the price on the book, and you shouldn't be. Only major printing houses do that, and only after much thought has gone into it. Always opt to not print the price. either that or you'll be updating the cover every single time you adjust the price. Which you can technically do, but it isn't as immediate a process as just changing the price, and may come with some processing fees.

I have the same problem as you as a review mentions in your Monty book: "No fault of the book creator and content but the printer that Amazon will assign job has very bad quality control which at the end of the day, leave the customer with a bad experience. More than half of the book had this annoying black blocks disrupting the flow or pictures". Do you have any solution for this? Thanks

Unfortunately there is no solution as Amazon KDP is a print on demand platform and this will happen unfortunately. I can only reassure you that those kind of reviews don't stop people from buying.

Depends on the size, the number of pages, whether it's black and white or colour.... it will tell you the royalty when you upload the book and select your price.
