Awesome channel. Learned so much so far. Anyone: I've just bought a Mipa epoxy primer and the spec sheet says 4-5 bar (58-72 psi) spraying pressure!! That sounds waaaay too high. Have you ever heard of this?

I'm working on my car, i wil be sanding it back to bare metal. I will seal it with a grey epoxy primer. I want the car to be satin black, can i spray that colour direct over the primer? or should i use something else in between? thanks for your videos, learling a lot from them.

open ended question but normally you can mix primer and let it sit for about 30 min to 2 hrs depending on temp (pot life) the primer in the cup wont dry but the residual fluid in the orifices (nozzle, needle, adapter, etc) will start gumming up so if the gun does sit without spraying for more than 10 minutes consecutively, clean out the gun, replace the lid if needed, and keep going with spraying.

You said to let the coats flash off. I assume this is dependent on the conditions but do you have approximation of time we should allow to wait between coats or do we just wait until the coat loses its shine and then put the next coat on? Thanks,

So how many coats should you use on primer, paint and clearcoat. I used two today. I am using spray paint though not a spray gun. I had used over 5 before when painting my truck but I didn't use the right paint code exactly and I can tell the difference in spots but now I have original paint code that my vehicle has PSB bright metallic silver gonna put it on tommorow the paint. Last time I had already put body filler Bondo on the uneven spots but this time I ain't doing it just gonna put 3 coats primer and sand it down and do 3 more coats of paint then last three coats of clearcoat. Like I said I put body filler in before when I was getting all the rust spots even so all the spots now are not bad. I just got some scratches out that I didn't get the first time and also I have the right code paint now. I supposed to be getting another bottle of spray paint on Monday I bought it online on eBay I couldn't find PSB spray paint code in the store before.

Kuakini3 no no you dont need sanding between each coat of primer . finish spraying all your primers after a good dry then u can start sanding it using 400 grit then 800 grit u can even finish with 1000 grit inorder to eliminate all small scratches of the previous grit .

The Gunman Hi, great video as usual, I am addicted to your videos, excellent work, mostly entertaining and educational! As for Celio comment, I wil try to translate: for the first coat, spray at a larger area, for the second coat decrease the sprayed area and for the third decrease again the area, as of a pyramid. Celio claims that by doing so, it is easier to sand and get rid of the border formed by the primer area. Obrigado também pela dica Célio!

Priming is the most overlooked step in the paint process. Now that you own your shop you will find, you will be hard pressed to find a bodyman that will take the proper time between coats when priming. Also I have never met a bodyman that uses the proper airfitting on the end of their HVLP gun. You cant use a high pressure air fitting and expect it to spray down without orange peel. Don't get me started on cleaning your primer gun properly after use.

good point, spraying any 2k or 2pack product is very dangerous! I don't think sanding it is as dangerous, for sure that is a dust issue, whereas painting a paint not dust respirator is used, also skin, eyes, even clothing protection...
