Do you think its actually cheaper to print yourself? The math workbook was around $22-25. I was debating whether printing myself actually saved money by the time I bought ink and paper.

@@hg8247 I think if you already have the tools to print and bind your own curriculum it’s good or if you plan on printing other things it’s a good investment. You’ll save over time. Also no waiting for shipping.

My daughter will be in Kindergarten this fall and we're going with The Good and The Beautiful for LA and Math and we purchased it, but I'm thinking about printing it ourselves in the future. We ended up printing the K Primer and Supplement, but just put it in a little folder..I like how you put the curriculum together, it looks nice.

Good and Beautiful Rocks! I have a 3rd grader and kindergartner ... we use math, LA, Science and History. There's so many free printables... (full curriculum--mostly level 1-5) on their website. So see what you can supplement by printing yourself! TGAB is a very reasonably priced curriculum, but I'd definitely vouch for printing your own LA and Handwriting. :)

I have an inkjet printer also but I'm going to try a laserjet printer for these kinds of jobs. Supposedly you can get 1000 pages per toner and they are a lot faster. Thanks for sharing about the binder. I'm looking for something other than the proclick but the only thing I don't like about this is the bulkiness of it. The price is reasonable.

I have a laser printer and it’s definitely fast and prints a lot, but the toner costs a fortune so when you hit that 1000ish level print limit it costs me $400 to refill the toner. I’m looking to get the ecotank for that reason!

Thank you for such an informative and well executed video on how to do this yourself! This was exactly what I needed to see because I just discovered TGATB a few weeks ago and my daughter absolutely loves it and is exactly what I was looking for! (Other free resources really weren't working) :/ and since I have multiple children, 3 very young, learning how to coil so I can continue to homeschool affordably is going to be a lifesaver. Anyway, I already had bought my printer, and with the exception of not wanting to wait til June for the clippers, I used all your links because that really took the guesswork out for me, thank you again! ❤

The colors of your prints look so vibrant! I’ve seen others who printed with ecotank and they were faded looking. Did you do any special settings?

@@alyssaayala7224 mine didn’t either (well I’m halfway). I do have an HP printer but I know that with all the pic the little ink cartridge won’t last me. But they do look much better and vibrant. Did you print the little books too? If so how did you do that.

I had an HP3755 and the color is more vibrant but I did not like how I had to manually flip the paper so we invested in an the eco3850. It's not bad it gets the job done. But the booklets I still haven't printed. I just have my kid read off the tablet as of now. I did find a KZbin video on how to make the booklet and used Adobe Reader. My tablet won't give me a booklet option. It might work on a computer.

Love this video. I’m starting homeschool Ans want to print curriculum too. I just purchased an eco tank 2850 but the print quality is not nearly as good as you. Did you have to do anything special? My printed pages look very blurry and colors are more like pastel. Do you have any tips on what I may be doing wrong?

Thank you for this! This will be my first year using the good and the beautiful and it's the new bird unit. I noticed there's a lot of pages that need to be removed for student work. You don't remove those ahead of time? It would seem very time consuming flipping through the whole thing to take them out but I wasn't sure if I should

No we don’t remove anything ahead of time. We just work right out of the book. So when it’s time for independent work she just write me right in the book. It’s easier for me to keep everything together in case I need to show our portfolio all of her work is in one spot.

Very helpful video, thank you! I was wondering how you were able to use those 20mm coils when the indicated capacity is 170 pages? It appears as if the level 1 LA for tgab is 368 pages so even if you were to print double sided I don’t see how it would fit. Maybe Kindergarten has less pages but you said that you used level 4 as well.

Maybe it depends on the weight of the paper??? I think I used a 20lb. But all the pages fit, double sided print and I can fold the pages back with no issues. So I’m not really sure.

I was all prepared to just buy whatever you linked until I saw the page capacity. Do you know if any 4:1 pitch spiral coils will work with any 4:1 pitch binding machine?

I'm about to buy that same printer. Do you have any issues printing on cardstock? Also I was going to buy a pro click but have held off because I just haven't felt sure of the plasticky feel of the machine and I have an add child...I know she will open and close the rings...this is SOOO much better.. thank you for sharing!

New to homeschooling... How do you remove the pages you need to make your portfolio at the end of the year?

I just scan/take picture of the pages and send that to my evaluator. I keep a digital portfolio and can reprint the pages if I needed to produce a physical copy. I still hold on to the workbooks too. But if need be I would just pull the pages out that I wanted to use for my portfolio

I just purchased the printer right around the time of this video but I haven’t had to get ink yet but I’ve printed level K plus readers and books and Level 4, several unit studies. Lots of just random sheets. And I’m sure more but can’t think of it now, lol. And I’ve barely scratched the surface of my ink. So worth it to me.

The coil machine you have linked is a 3:1 pitch and the binding coils are 4:1 pitch. Are they interchangeable like that? I didn't think so but I'm still learning about this system.

Honestly I have no idea. 😂 All I know is those are the exact ones I’ve used and that they work. Sorry I couldn’t give you an exact answer.

Yes sometimes you gotta weigh which is more beneficial. I only have 2 kiddos so it’s not too much. I also do a mix of home printing and purchasing printed curriculum.

How are you doing the readers? I want to print and bind them like I did the course books. but I was wanting to make them HALF sheets and when I do that the double-sided print doesn't align. I am going crazy. (I also have the ecotank 3760)

I can’t remember which I did but change the setting when you do double side to either flip on the long end or short. I think you set it to flip on the short. Before I changed that it would print upside down on the back page.
