Glad I found it, even if too late - my PEX surface bubbled up and came off the flexi plate the very first time I printed PETG

This is a great video and timely for me! Thank you for including information on the Bambu printers as well. A series of videos like this with various filaments would be very helpful.

Thanks for the feedback! On the Bambu Lab, they raise the temperatures of the hot end in their slicer for PETG so we recommend using this PETG guide specifically to adjust for Bambu Lab: bit.ly/3JcvFuN Hope this helps!

Just bought one of these for my X1C, mainly printing PLA and ABS/ASA, I have another printer I use for PET/PETG that the profiles are really dialed in for, I may avoid printing PET(G) on this plate.

Thank you for your purchase, you will love PEX for PLA and most filaments! We also have an authentic Carbon Fiber Flexi Plate that works excellently on PETG and all higher grip filaments without any damage or having to tweak the settings. If you work with that filament a lot and this is something that interests you, here are the currently available sizes: www.whambamsystems.com/collections/carbon-fiber

I suggest people utilize the Teaching Tech Calibration page. Don’t guess what temp to print. Do a temperature tower. See the best temp for that machine. Then do the calibration flow cubes for extrusion/flow rate. And especially for PETG, do the retraction tests to find the ideal distance. And finally, invest in a filament dryer. Dry material before use and short in air tight containers with desiccant

did not know that my dualsided powder-coated textured pei plate had poor adhesion with petg? i use it for all petg prints and i have to flex the plate hard many times to get prints off it, cant say i agree with you on the "petg does not stick well to pei" part sir. on the contrary u can try yourself? u most likely got those gold colored ones too. i was flabbergasted at how well it does petg. will try this for funsies ;) but i think im going back to the texpei again for sure. the texture is nice too imo

@@WhamBamSystems 0:38 "have a lot of difficulties when it comes to printing on pex and pei" and it really doesnt. its painfree.. no chipped borosilicate, chunks of pex or g10.. i missed a word in translation. norwegian here, english is not best. meant too good as in not what one wold want. too good is also poor in norwegian. as u could understand from the rest of the text, clearly i was impressed with the adhesion and ease of removal from textured pei with petg... did try petg with whambam plate and its about the same tack as the textured pei. had to increase 12c more than pei to get same range of tack. love the plates for abs as they leave a flat surface for branding. the customers is always right yes? good thing we cleared that up then ;) good summer to you sir.

@@WhamBamSystems I just re-read my initial comment and i must apologize. it got twisted in translation to come off as offensive. it was meant in opposite way completely! i have two of your pex systems and i completely adore them, i have only tested in a corner with petg as i do like to cook to petg to get the glossy finish and monster layeradhesion it gets. i do not want to risk the pex for petg. the texpei gold plates for petg is as amazing as abs is at 110c with your plates. i can do no brim on most prints even the ones with thin flat solid bases and sharp corners. its just mental how good the pex is. and the lifespan is so good i cant believe how you are making money. i meant to say that i have never had petg fuse with texpei plate as you say, i am curious to what temps and offsets used to fuse. so i can avoid this, as i do cook them good :) i also wonder what problems you had with petg and pei as i have had only good experience with petg. it cant be luck as im the most unlucky person in my town.😂

@@WhamBamSystems Same thing happened to me. Wham Bam's website at the time recommended a much hotter bed temperature and my first PETG print fused to the PEX. I contacted tech support and they just sold me a new PEX sheet at full price + shipping. I really like Wham Bam, so I was a bit disappointed at that response.

So how do I set the first layer higher up in Bambu slicer? Also, can PETG really be printed with just 245C, at 200mm/s+ (bambu speeds). I use 260/90 with Bambu X1C and textured plate and can print 230-250mm/s
@WhamBamSystems
@WhamBamSystems Жыл бұрын
We do reccommend for high speed to go maximum 10 degrees over manufacturer limit and as such 255 is fine, and you get full speeds To increase your gap of your first layer go here and get the start gcode: www.printables.com/model/322000-bambu-lab-modified-start-and-end-gcode

if the surface damages that easily. seems like a design flaw.
@WhamBamSystems
@WhamBamSystems Жыл бұрын
It’s actually not a flaw but a condition of printing with different surface materials. The user has to inform themselves with ideal settings and conditions for each type of filament and each type of surface material, every one has its limits or attention points, glass, PC, PEI,PEX powder painted PEI, garrolite, you can damage all of these if used outside of recommended settings. PEX does not damage easily, and if you follow our advice you should have surfaces that last many yers

@@WhamBamSystems if the PEX coating was thicker it would be less prone to damage. I previously used 1/16 PEI sheets and that were very tough by comparison. if yuou doubled the thickness of the PEX it would be more durable and less likely that your clients would have issues

Nice You made a plate Specific for the Bambu Lab X1 for $74 released it in December and now are giving instructions on settings for the X1. Very unprofessional!!! My plate is trash. Thank you for your comment, this is why we made this video. These have been our recommended settings for PETG on our PEX build surface for the 4+ years we have been making them! Our $54 Bambu Lab Flexi Plate has always included recommended settings for PETG right on the instructions included in the packaging and on the support page that have not changed. However, we did not know back in December that Bambu Lab raises the temperature of the hot end in their slicer settings for PETG so we now recommend using this PETG guide specifically to adjust to our recommended settings: bit.ly/3JcvFuN Please reach out to our technical support team at technical@whambamsystems.com so they can further assist you with your damaged plate!
