Well, I’ve been looking at buying a printer for ages, but this video has just given me a kick up the backside to splash the cash! My grandad used to print all the time, I also used to snoop round his dark rook when I was a kid, he got so much enjoyment out of it and I have many of his prints still. I think it’s now my turn to put ink to paper. Thanks Nigel!!

Brilliant introduction to printing. I gave up doing my own years ago because my Epson kept blocking up but your infectious enthusiasm has made me keen to try again with a new printer.
@slacker236667 ай бұрын
If you print frequently, you never have this problem. If you don't, unfortunately this is still a problem. Printers can use ink to clean and keep themselves running, but your printing costs go up either way. Unfortunately manufacturers' greed has made this hobby an expensive one. In theory they should be able to add a (12th, 13th?) cartridge (or bottle) of cheap cleaning solution but that would cut too much into their profits

Brilliant video, this gave me the last push to get a printer as this has all the info needed to get started. Just a heads up for anyone, I had some issues with Colour Management in the print module with the Canon Pro 200. When selecting the paper profile provided by Canon (for Luster paper), I had greens and magentas being very oversaturated. Changing this to "Managed by Printer" sorted this out, and the preview provided by the printer software seemed very accurate to what comes out.

Just a tip about monitor color calibration: as time passes and the screen gets older the colors will change. That's why I've bought a calibration device myself: got a high quality screen here, but every three months when I recalibrate its colors have always shifted somewhat. I guess it depends on how close to perfect you want your screen to be: I still think it's worth the money to buy a quality color calibration device. We're spending thousands on gear: why cheap out on a 150-300 dollar (depending on your needs) device that can be used for countless devices (including televisions, with a laptop), will be used for a lot longer than the average camera nowadays and plays quite a large part in the quality of your final image? It's like putting cheap tires on a Ferrari.

I fully agree with you, Nigel. Printing is such a joy! Especially the fact that the print will show much more fine details than the screen - it took me a while to understand this. A most timely video, I just purchased A Canon Pro-300. My first photo printer in more than a decade. I really missed having an picture "in my hand". It is more impactful to having the physical print when sharing with family, friends and co-workers. Professionally I service wide format printers, So I am well versed in the industry. And I highly recommend the Canon product for homer and personal use. I print my images on 5x7 as a test and for sharing, and then on 11x14 to 13x19 for permanent display. I'm also an amateur woodworker so I'm looking to see more of your wood shop. Ignore the algorithm and do what makes you happy, Cheers from Niagara Falls, NY

I've been attempting to print via LRC to a Canon Pro 300 and there seems to mtbe no way to switch off printer colour management in the 'Print Dialog Box'. The Canon software seems to be more 'in tune' with a Canon printer than LRC is. If anyone has an answer to enable LRC printing with a Canon Pro series printer, I'd be grateful - I've removed and reinstalled the drivers umpteen times but there simply is no selection to turn off printer colour management.
@weekendphotographer84007 ай бұрын
@@outdoorsinspiration9284 Take a look at the profile selected under Color management. If it is on "Managed by Printer" then select an ICC profile for the paper you are printing on. You can also choose to print from the Canon Print and Layout directly by choosing it from the plugin extras menu.
