Fabulous capture and edit Pat. I live in Central England and had to go to south of France to tick it off my list. My image was rubbish but happy I got it.

Hi Leon, Thank you for watching my video and the compliments. I figured it would be very low in your southern sky making it a hard capture. At least you were able to go to a more southern latitude, even there in France, it still had to be rather low in the sky. Clear skies, mate

Great video Pat and amazing end result. Love the Helix nebula, one of my favorite targets. Glad to see you didn't get a lot of damage from the storms.

Thanks, Ken. No storm damage at my house, but there were several houses in the subdivision where trees crashed through the roof.

Very nice video Pat and really a great image ! Here in Belgium we are struggling with bad weather for months now with hardly a few clear nights in between.
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy2 ай бұрын
HI Siegfried, So sorry about your inclement weather. I know how that is. Well, at least you won't be missing the Helix Nebula at your location, it's just too far south and very low in your sky. Hopefully, the weather will break soon and you will be able to start imaging on those long Autumn nights.

Excellent work Pat! Great target, one which sadly as you say, I struggle to get here in the south east UK! I would like to get it one day! A blessing for you really that the tree went! Not so nice for the tree🤣 Super image Pat, as always mate👍 Clear skies

Hi Simon, Yes, one of the advantages of living at 32N latitude. I have no love loss for that tree. It was a fast-growing ficus, which I refer to as a "Weed Tree". My neighbor does a terrible job at maintaining their property. Once again, thank you for watching my video(s). P.S. I just remounted the Celestron 11” EdgeHD. However, I made a change … I lowered the tripod. That really helps to put the scope on the mount and for the general maintenance.

@@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy Lol, a weed tree🤣 Wow, that’s a lovely scope, the 11” Edge HD! Must be a job to change over at that height, see why you had to lower it🤣 Good luck with it and look forward to seeing some more amazing images with it👍

Great vid mate. I sketched Helix from visual observation a few nights ago. It's absolutely massive with a very low surface brightness.

Sketch ... wow! I could never do that. Like my dancing and two left feet, my art work is like two left thumbs ... ha. Thanks for watching my video

I really like that you also showed a bit in NINA. How to build your sequence etc. - interesting! And a really nice looking final image of this beautiful target. In my location it's very low in the night sky unfortunately ...it's also on my target list. ;) Clear skies. p.s. You also applied some noise reduction not only BX at 12:58 min right?
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy2 ай бұрын
Thanks, Tully, It does look like I performed NOISE XTerminator to the image on the right which smooths out the nebulosity but usually leave the stars alone. That BlurXTerminatior is totally awesome when it comes to the stars!!!

Fantastic result Pat, especially given how low it is and how narrow you window is for imaging. Since you are are a weather guru, maybe you could organise the wind to take down another tree 🤣

Ha, Thanks Logan. Yes, there are few more trees I wouldn't mind see leaving their presence. I just post a video concerning the Wizard Nebula. I got 28 hours on that target. Well, I assume your nights are rather short now as ours have lengthened. I want to do some planet shopping the next few weeks on Jupiter, Mars, and Uranus. Clear Skies, Logan

Very nice capture, I like the eye description. About a year ago I watched a UTube vid with "The Dumpy Dalek" channel in Central UK Yorkshire I believe, he did a nice capture of the Helix Nebula from his obsy, probably worth a look.. Atb Tom.

Nice Pat, thanks. With such limited sky window, how many subs per channel were you able to get.

It was around 80 minutes per R-G-B and the Ha channels. Total exposure times was around 5 hours. Thank you for watching my video and the compliment. Clear skies

Great work, Pat! The Helix Nebula is one of my favorite nebulae. Here in southeastern Brazil, it appears quite high in the sky. Do you use field flattener with this telescope? Thanks for sharing!
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy2 ай бұрын
Hi Agnaldo, Thank you for watching my video. I was thinking of mentioning some southern hemisphere locations but, well, forgot. I do not use a field flattener with this scope. It is triplet aprochromatic and doesn't need one, or at least, it doesn't appear so. Again, thank you for watching.
