Tree hay hay as winter feed for farm animals has been a tradition in my country for several thousands of years. (Norway) And they used to cut the branches off only ever 3-7 years. If you do it every year it might be too stressful for the tree, and it might die. But an excellent way to provide extra feed!

I first learned about it from a Norwegian farmers! In the US the native black locust tree grows like a weed, burns like oak, and has a nutrition profile similar to alfalfa. The only problem is the thorns! I also suspect you guys get a lot less sunlight than we do which would impact tree regrowth rates.

@@westmeadowrabbits Yes climate could definetely play a role in how often a tree can handle it.
