Spartan Epoxies I have not...my partner, and I am having trouble deciding on what color chose. I want more of a burnt orange-ish color ( from rust-oleum they call it Copper Pot), and my partner wants a blue-ish color since part of our house is. Blue. So, we are at a stalemate at the moment. :/

Great install guys, you did it right! Unfortunately, we live in NW Ohio and had a company called Buckeye Concrete floor coatings do our work. They did not follow all the steps you have shown in this video. Subsequently we have had many issues of the coating coming loose and now they refuse to take care of their self created problems. They are desperately trying to claim the floor is damp not allowing the coatings to remain bonded. They made the call regarding the condition of the floor prior to applying the coating. It was very dry according to the installers, in fact they opted not to check it with a moisture analyze. It's so sad when a company plays the BS card on you.

well call us we can help
@mikeb79724 жыл бұрын
Moisture issues don't necessarily start when the concrete is poured. You can have concrete that has no moisture issues for many years then through circumstances your moisture content spikes and the epoxy delaminates. With that said, chances are the concrete was not prepped properly. It rarely is. It's amazing how many KZbin videos I see where people think the installation job is amazing and a true professional like myself could write a 5000 word critique on how they have no understanding whatsoever what they're doing.

Do you need to diamond grind a brand new garage floor?
@spartanepoxies37984 жыл бұрын
Yes you do. That's a common misconception. A lot of folks think since the concrete it new it doesn't need prepped. Concrete is concrete, when concrete contractors finish concrete, they use a metal trowel which makes the concrete smooth, and epoxy will not bond to a smooth surface. You need to remove the "creme" from the top of the concrete either by acid etching or by diamond grinding. There are other ways, but those 2 are the most popular. Hope that helps!
@Peugot9054 жыл бұрын
This is very similar to how you install epoxy floor decking on navel ships. The worst part is using a tiny jack hammer and deck crawler to get up the old flooring and profile it. Steps are slightly different because it's metal vs concrete but not radically different.

Have a few questions: 1. How does this compare to the Rust-Oleum epoxy (or other DIY method)? Why would I choose this method? 2. What's the price range to DIY or have a professionally installed flooring in the size garage you did? 3. Do you have a list of recommended installers if I don't want to DIY? This looks a bit more involved, so if the price is right, I'd rather have a pro do it. THANKS!!
@spartanepoxies37984 жыл бұрын
Rust-Oleum Epoxy is a glorified acrylic paint. Our epoxy is true epoxy. The only thing I would tell you is to not apply PC85 as that is a fast drying top coat. You can replace that with HDI or any of our other top coats which have a 1.5 hour work time. You can call me and I can help you. 1-877-288-1952 or visit our website at spartanepoxies.com to see our kits. You can also email or fill out our RFQ so that we can properly quote you. So would i follow same steps if i wanted to use your hdwb as primer and hpu coat as topcoat is there anything different i would need to i dont think i will have enough time with polyaspartic?
@spartanepoxies379810 ай бұрын
I know this was an old question, but we wanted to answer it as we don't check comments often. You can use our HDWB epoxy and then coat with HPU. That's considered a thin mil system. However, there's several ways to building a high performance resinous coating system. With that said, I would go with HDPRO @ 12mils, (133 sq ft per gallon), then apply a pigmented topcoat like HPU or even HP44 our easy to apply polyaspartic system. You can pigment that system with our polyaspartic pigment packs. Give us a call we can help 1-877-288-1952.

I'm looking to do this in my 3 car garage, very similar to this one. I don't have the drains nor the pole, but I have more expansion joints. What's a ballpark on having someone do this professionally? $1,000 materials and labor? $2,000? More? I'm assuming you guys are in Michigan or I'd call direct. I'm in NC, so I know prices will vary. Also, we have an older dog who has been sick for over a year and urinates on the garage floor. How much extra prep needs to be done to account for deep cleaning it? We obviously hose it out daily and I have used the pressure washer with the circular surface cleaner several times as well.

How is acid etching an out dated technology? What you recommend is sanding, while washing the concrete with a acid will do the same thing.... don’t make it sound like you have to be a “professional “ to paint the floor
@spartanepoxies37984 жыл бұрын
We're not. Compared to the latest technology in diamonds and equipment etching is outdated. However, there are some pretty cool new products out there for etching. We're not against etching trust me. The whole point of this video is to show the beginner how to apply epoxy so we are def not saying you have to be a professional, quite the opposite.

always wear safety glasses and gloves as he has his glasses on his head. You guys dont waste time in between coats should you let it bond better to adhere soundly?
@spartanepoxies37982 жыл бұрын
Yes you should always wear protective gear. Mike got to busy and forgot to put his on, but trust us when working with industrial grade coatings like ours you need to protect yourself. There are many ways to apply a primer and midcoat. The best way is the way we applied it with HDPRO. Apply a 6mil coating, wait about an hour and a half or until you can get back on the floor and apply the midcoat. You get a chemical bond using this technique with HDPRO. We formulated HDPRO this way so that you get one layer of epoxy that's sunk into the concrete, and one layer thats chemically bonded. Which makes a long lasting, superior, high impact, and high performance resinous flooring system.
