Really nice speaker install . Amazing what you can accomplish with out all the fancy tools, the heart of a true installer.

How are you James? When i looked up auto sound and security it says permanently closed. Just wondering if you still do car audio installs
@endall397 жыл бұрын
The adhesive mounting of the tweeters is certainly workable. However, when you have tweeters with a threaded hole in the back plate or magnet, why not use a shallow screw and a piece of back strap to rig an easily removable bracket mount? You can also wrap electrical tape around the blackstrap if you are concerned about grounding the magnet. Just a thought. Another great vid!

Hey there, first time viewer here. Thanks for the theory behind your choices, and instruction for deciding whether or not to build something custom or just modified fit. Helps newbies like me alot ! Do you happen to have any of the dimensions for the final housings or draft sketches by any chance ?

My mounts were made by a shop that way and they had to be replaced due to moisture (2005 A4). Going to use a cutting board (High Density Polypropylene) for my new ones. Good video tho.

Hi, I have a 2014 A5 and my passenger, driver side, and front left & right speakers aren’t working. Only the subwoofer in the front works. Do you know what could be the problem. Car is not tinted and I’m at 50k miles if that matters.

bro i know this is old as but the fact you have mdf rings at all or use mdf at all for speaker mounting means your not on a level thats acceptable either mdf will fall apart soon as it gets damp solid abs or marine ply are the only acceptable options in doors. i wont even use mdf for sub box its heavy as shit when birch ply is beautiful , light as a feather and solid as a rock with even better acoustic properties than mdf .its expensive but worth every cent

I have a 2014 A6 with a Bose system, it has a subwoofer mounted in the Hat Rack, are there any subwoofer you could recommend to replace in the stock location? And could I still use the factory amp or should I upgrade to a new amp.

Was looking at getting 4 rockford punch mids, dont know what amp and a 15inch punch subwoofer? I dont know what much about sound but the previous guy at sound place recommended something... went all Rockford and it was sick. Oh and two tweeters

I don’t think any flush trim bit is good for using plastic as a template because the bearing transfers heat from the blade. Good video I like the new camera. When I had my shop I made mdf templates of the holes and rings that I would use most.
@famousmidnight6 жыл бұрын
If youre making templates back to back, of course, your bit will get hot. If you take your time and keep your bit cool with a router table it's one of the best tools in car audio fab.

it seems like you guys are reusing old furnature for mdf for stereo installs in customer cars? Theres an old seat cusion haldf unstaples and also a kitchen cupboard you traced your pods onto has a hinge recess routered into it
@mndlessdrwer7 жыл бұрын
You need a teflon flush trim router bearing for dealing with plastics.

@marsruben6 жыл бұрын
Get a CANBUS dapater, its the only way, otherwise connect the powering for the stereo to the Mirror fuse, that fuse turns on when the car is on. but CANBUS is easier and more practical.

How I normally do those speakers is I ripped the cone out and then cut the basket and then put the after market speaker in the factory housing
@caraudioetc7 жыл бұрын
Rocky Bundrick that’s exactly what I did when I fitted focal ps165fx in a silver one of these not long ago. If you go into my playlists and find the Audi A4 playlist you will see what I did. This method is more time consuming but in the end I was more confident with this install.

If you want to save money on the MDF @Car Audio.etc you can check out the video I recently uploaded to my channel and it will show you how you can simply reuse the factory speaker mount when you do Audi/VW speaker installs.. Nonetheless nice video and very helpful for individuals who aren't as experienced as you and I are regarding audi/car audio.. etc (pun intended) lol
@Shotgun_7897 жыл бұрын
You lost me when you said that you were going to use wood, MDF, no less to make a baffle. Doors get wet. Wood swells.
@caraudioetc7 жыл бұрын
+Larry Martin havnt come across a single swollen mdf baffle in all my years doing it. You need a lot of water for that to happen. It doesn’t rain in between door panels.
@roycephantom85636 жыл бұрын
yes it does. small amounts of water/moisture make its way past the window trim seal on the A4.. When I did the speakers on my A4 B7 (2007) The white colored rubber seal thats attached to the plastic vented cover on the rear side of the stock speaker housings was covered in mold, algae and moisture from water that got in past the window trim seal. Your right, it doesnt often enter the door card, but it DOES get in the door panel. Thats why the bottom of the doors on all A4s (and probably all audis) have drains on them.
@krish65066 жыл бұрын
You don’t need more batteries!!!! You need to make the video shorter!!! 40 minutes for this install is wayyyyyyyyyy to long, it’s longer than a damn tv show. Show be 5-10 minutes
