Great Video Walden! Sometimes I get little dark specks show up on my art even after I adjusted the levels. Any tip on quickly cleaning all the little bits up with have to individually dodge them all?
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Seraji. Thank you so much for watching my video. Somtieks it’s your scanner bed that has those specks of dust on them. Wipe the glass clean from any dust and it’ll remove majority of the specks. But it’s it’s really tiny and you’re zoomed in close, leave them. They won’t be seen when it’s printed on regular comic size, especially after the artwork is reduced 68%. Informative video, Walden! I've been thinking about scanning some of my drawings so the information here will help. I don't have an 11x17 scanner soI guess I'll have to scan 2 halves and paste them together. Or I could just go to Staples to scan it myself at their self-service copy center. Thanks for posting!
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 11 ай бұрын
Hi Rometiklan. Scanning half the page and piece it together is still okay. It just takes a bit of time to piece together. If you’re not scanning for publication, a photograph of your artwork is still okay. I think I’m some of my Art Review and Critique videos, I also talk about how to use a cell phone to take a picture of the art and do all the adjustments on photoshop to make it look like it was scanned. The other option, instead of going to Staples to scan them and pay more. Is to just use a Staples photocopy machine and make a photocopy at 67% reduction. I’m sure that doesn’t cost as much than paying to scan. Once you get that reduced photocopy and it’s a clean photocopy from the machine. Just take that copy home and scan it at your regular scanner and that will work. No piecing together. Hope that helps, my friend.

I don't think I've seen the magic wand method to get rid of blue lines before. I think Richard Friend does a levels kind of a thing like the contrast for blacks. Now I want to find his video for his method...

Hi Paulis Art. Thank you for watching my video. Yes, I also got a levels thing after using the magic wand. It cleans up the blues quicker and the levels don’t have to work that hard to remove the blue lines.

Thank you so much for watching my video. When I scan the art, I scan it at full size color at 600dpi. Once that done, I convert to greyscale for black and white line art. Then finally, I’ll save it as a TIFF file. Not jpeg it pad as the file size it too large. TIFF file is just as good and doesn’t waste that much storage space. It’s the industry standard. how big is the scanner is it fine if i use a smaller scanner?
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching my video. The scanner I use can scan 11x17 size. You can still use a smaller scanner, you just have to do some post production work and piece images together. Which takes time. If you have a larger scanner to scan larger size artwork, you’ll save time and not have to piece them together. Hope that helps. if i draw on 500 dpi and i scan using 600 dpi, is that going to affect the art in a bad way? im using procreate
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching my video. If you draw digitally at 500 dpi, the art will already be 500 dpi. If you then drew traditionally with paper and pencil, and then you scan the artwork at 600dpi, it’s still okay. You just need to bump down the 600dpi to 500dpi to match your digital files if your sending different types of artwork for printers. It’s easier for a printer to have all the same size artwork/files and resolution so the printing would be streamlined to print. Isn't A3 supposed to be 11 x 17? I have a HP printer/scanner but the glass bed is barely the same size as A3, very frustrating. Can you please give me the name of the scanner you are using?
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 8 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching my video. You’re correct, A3 is the same as 11x17 in size. Different places call it different names, but still the same. The printer I use is a Brother CFW-6490, but that printer has long been discontinued. There are other printers that’s a new model. Here’s a link to one. amzn.to/3G6V8DX and another amzn.to/4727Tv2 hope that helps!

Latest version of photoshop just looks more fancy with bells and whistles. But all steps are the same. Unless you’re using Photoshop Elements. Which has some functions, but are listed and located in different places. It’s weird with photoshop elements.

@@someperson9999sure thing. I just did some research and found the equivalent to the same model Brother printer I have. I’m fact, this is the newer model that had replaced my model. And it’s better too! It has WiFi capabilities and can print directly from your MacBook. It’s an all in one scanner. Meaning you can scan full pages, as well as print both 8.5x11 and 11x17 pages. So if you were thinking of printing out blue lines to ink pages, this will do it also. The printer I have is a workhorse and it has never broken in all these years. So I imagine these between model will be even better. Here’s my Amazon Affiliate link to the printer… amzn.to/4a30Rrc If you order, I get a little bit of Amazon kickback. But you don’t pay extra or any more. Thank you for using my links and I hope this helps!

Excellent video and very informative :) I have criticisms that might help your channel. I am surprised that you have low viewership. So from a general viewer of KZbin videos for years here are some criticisms that might help :) Audio: - Intro and outro seems to be much louder than the rest of the content of video. - The audio levels in general seem to be quite high. I need to lower my volume to have it the same as other KZbin videos. Content: I like the long form content of your videos, but I also like informative shorter videos too. I think a mixture would be better to get a wider audience. I really like this specific video on a specific topic. Your teaching style is short and to the point which I like. Perhaps you could have a teaching series on the specific use of certain things, like in this video how to do a computer related aspect of comic book art. Promote yourself a bit more. Ask us for suggestions on how to do this. I am not a twitter follower or do instagram social media type of things, so I cant help there. I'm sure utilizing those resources would be of great help. Just a couple of suggestions to help grow your channel. I really like your content and would like to see you do well on KZbin :) I would like to help out any way I can :)
