As long as people understand homes are money pits until you sell and hopefully make a profit. Many new home sales in 55 and older areas. All the kids have left the nest. Approaching retirement or in retirement. Downsizing to new smaller homes with less maintenance with additional investment money in their pockets from the larger house sale. Their previous home paid off. They new smaller low maintenance home paid cash with money in their pockets. Win win!

Are those 2014 numbers adjusted for inflation and should they be for this comparison. I ask because the US Inflation Calculator is showing $17.6T in 2014 to be about $23.5T in 2024 which means GDP growth would be considerably less.

Economy is not accessed using GDP. It’s measured using market cap meaning wealth. Debt is taken over wealth in most cases than income. So national debt should be measured along with national wealth. In 2014 national debt was 17.6T but S&P was market cap was 18.25T. But in 2024 national debt is 27.9T but S&P 500 is valued at 45.84T. Meaning national debt didn’t rise as much as national wealth. We are in a better level than in 2014. Even the S&P 500 to GDP is a wrong analysis. It should be S&P 500 to national wealth. We are on a multi decade bull run. Don’t miss it after hearing this noise. S&P 500 is going to cross 10k by end of the decade.

We don't have a spending problem we have a revenue problem. Corporate welfare...I mean tax cuts have been going on for 40 years and SHOCKINGLY the debt has been going up?!?! Who'd have thought. Look in on Kansas under Gov Brownback to see how tax cuts and spending cuts exploded Kansas and its debt. People keep saying run government like a business or my budget at home, well would you work less and take in less income to pay your bills? Makes no sense. Also, economists finance professors on the left and right will tell you debt is not bad, it depends. If the debt is used for investment, education, roads, ports, etc., that is universally good debt. If it's used for war (not defense) it's bad debt. Iraq and Afghanistan are likely bad debt.

This is not good advice for most people. You keep buying at the top it could take 20 years to break even. 2008 and 2000 are great examples. Buying SPY now as an investment is financial suicide. You can swing trade it but holding it is silly at this point
