How to program a Align ESC

I know this video is old now, but thanks for the instructions. I didn't even know the Align ESC had a setup option. Things have changed since I first flew GMP Heli's.

Very helpful , I bought a Used Trex 450 that was rebuilt and had lots of nice new items such as the Align RCE BL35X ESC on it but had no idea of how to set it up and was looking online for a Program card as I have for a few of my other Heli's. Your video makes it very easy to follow. I still would like a Program card not yet found one for the Algn cards. My ESC has a governor on it and a elect find mode or something will have to do more research about all that for not just lever it off is best.

@dbutzer Maidened my T-Rex 500 last Sunday. I now have 18 flights on it and yesterday an old pro XFC pilot, Dan Roysdon flew it. WOW...piro flips, crazy stuff and more. I just do sport flying aka loops, rolls, flips, piros and some light inverted flight...but he showed me what it could do. It will work with default settings. Only need to re-program if you want to change one of the settings.

@chubbychicken1234567 As long as you know how to solder you can. The normal full deans might be a little bulky, but they will work. There are some small connectors and even smaller "deans" brand connectors as well, but you can use any connector you choose. One thing to make sure of is that you put the male end on the ESC and the female end on the battery. If you use a male end on a battery then you are asking for a fire. Small piece of metal will create a short, and you don't want that.

@gregder1234 yeah, you can have the other channels plugged in. I'd recommend making sure the blades aren't in a holder or anything if those servos are going to turn on or they'll buzz like crazy. Just make sure the motor is not engaged with the gear. Just incase the throttle channel is reversed or something arms during programming, you don't want the blades to spin up and hit you. Safety first!

@INMATECELL11 Oh good, was just coming to reply. Glad the video helped out. I think you can run soft start and GOV mode without problems. I think the defaults settings out of a 550 combo are good to go, but if it's me, I always check the programming just to be sure. It's quick, simple, and better to be safe than sorry. Also, if it's a 550, I would disable the internal BEC and use a separate ESC.

On my align 450 the pitch servo moves when I move the throttle on the t6 transmitter instead of spinning the motor, ESC programming, transmitter or 3gx flybarless?

@TheLuiCyfer I've never heard of any Align ESCs burning while trying to set them up with no load on the motor, not that it hasn't happened before though. Did the whole thing set on fire, or did a puff smoke just come out? It may have just been the internal BEC that burned out. Either way, it sounds like a failure of the unit, I don't think you did anything wrong, unless you plugged a 12S battery in or something, which I doubt. See if the distributor you bought the kit from will help you out.

@TheLuiCyfer wow, I'm sorry to hear that the smoke came out of your ESC. Usually during the programming I don't have the servos plugged in, just in case something were to happen. The buzzing when it was plugged in and low stick doesn't sound normal at all. Exactly what ESC were you using (how many amps) and what battery were you using (how many cells)? Usually these have a default set up, but during programming it doesn't pull a lot of current, so it shouldn't smoke.

@TheLuiCyfer Another question, what servos were you using that were plugged in at the time? The internal BEC of these things can't handle the current needs for a lot of the newer digital servos.

I'm assembling the TREX 550 E V2 with flybar. I have 3 DS610 on cyclic (1 of them just died) and the RCE-BL70G as ESC. Everything original from Align. In the past i built a 250 and a 450 sport and never got something like this, that's why all the servos were plugged in. Maybe the buzzing on start up should have made me worry... What do you think ? ESC failure ?

Hi, i'm planning on putting together a trex 500 at first i was confused about programming an ESC reading the manual, now that i've seen your video things are clearer. I plan on using the default settings, my question is will the ESC work at first plug in at defaultnsettings or do i have to programit it as shown in the video? Thanks

Hi, i followed this procedure today, but i didn't have the time to get to setup mode, the ESC burned out. Before that,with throttle stick in low position,when plugging in the battery, i could not ear any sound but just a ''buzzing'' something like ''nznznznznzn''. I thought that was because it wasn't setup. I WAS WRONG. After the first beep indicating the setup mode i got flame and smoke. So, ESC and PITCH's servo gone!!! Any idea on what went wrong ? Thank you I can still smell the smoke.......

Hi, one esc burned and now I am replacing it with a new one, I made the procedure to config throttle but is not ok, I Turn on the rc, move the left stick to the top and plug the baterry to to the esc (the tx is connected to the Drone) and on only beep sound, I made several times and now I don't know what other changes I made, do you know how to set the esc to default? And what could be heppening with throttle? Saludos
