I just picked up a couple of Radius SP 50 Radio's that I want to set to a new channel. I have most of the things I need but still want to get an old laptop and the software. Any advice on both ?

yes you do need a rib and hex edit the code to make the software think it's a 10 channel. I have the schematic for the rib or you can get it off repeater builder and you have to modify the base to add a programming cable. it's all pretty easy.

Okay thanks, I have purchased a Genuine Motorola 2001 Rib box with cables and adapter. I have dos box and i have successfully programed my MT2000, HT1000, and 3 Maxtrac radios so far. I Purchase a Sp50 Charger style base with 25 pin to rib box..... I am ready to program, Just need the software. The software on Russia hackers is defective and most other software on google is copys of the defective software. You need a charging base to make the programming base. Can pick one up on ebay

Jason Trew what frequency are you programming and what channel? Also do you have a 2 channel or 10 channel?

I have a 2 channel model and I wanted 470.000 (North Georgia Speedway) as CH 1 and 464.475 (Boyd's Speedway) with a tone of 114.8PL (whatever that means) and both have to transmit and receive when I'm up there on the flagstand

Jason, Do you have a RIB (Radio Interface Box)? you need that plus the software. If you have that the video is self explanatory. They are not to bad to program. But for 29.00 you can buy a Baofeng UV5R and it comes with the programming cable and a lot more channels. You can download the CHIRP programming software for free.

I wish I did have the RIB for the SP50 and the software (I have the software for the GP300 series and I have a GP350). The Baofeng's we use are nothing but trouble with the headsets we use at North GA Speedway lucky to find a set that do work together

Jason, without the RIB and software your best bet is to find someone in the area that can program the radio for you.
