The dip switches on my SteelCraft garage door opener have three positions (labelled: '-', '0', '1'), not two. ☹️

I just spent several hours working on this, and unfortunately, this didn't solve the problem with my 2 new remotes. No learn button, but the dip switches are set correctly. I tried all up, then setting, all down, then setting, I tried setting them opposite, I tried upside down, nothing worked. I was using an old remote that does work and trying to set new ones with the same number of dip switches, supposedly compatible, but the new ones just won't operate the door.

Ok I see. So you leave the extra ones OFF, and don't forget the learn code step at the end(see instructions of the one you bought).

This video saved them a return. No where could I find an explanation. After 14 clicks it located and activated my garage door opener. Thank you. Poor, poor chamberlain needs to add this video to their website.

This video was very helpful. I followed the instructions. As I was doing my 18 clicks I hit 14 and the door opened up. After that I pushed the program button and locked it in. Thanks.

Thank you for your informational video for programing dip switch openers! Nowhere in the instructions does is say to press the remote 18 times! After watching your video, I went out and followed your instructions and it worked right away!

You are my new best friend. We have an old AllStar garage door opener, and needed a new remote. Could NOT figure it out. until you said, "Keep pressing the switch, this one is set to 18 so I will press it 18 times." And eureka, ours worked when we got to 14. Of course, that was AFTER I reversed all the dip switches. You da man.

Hi, thano you for your video, although it didn't show how to solve my problem. I currently have a garage opener with 8 dip switches set to open and close the door, but I need another opener and the one I have uses 10 dip switches. I followed your instructions but no luck. Any ideas? I can provide pics upon request. Thanks!

Dude. THANK YOU. The manual is garbage. With a few seconds of your video, I programmed my buttons correctly. Appreciate you.

Wow! Mine worked exactly on 18th time! I had no idea. Thought I'd wasted money. The manual didn't say anything about 18 times. And who the hell is gonna go that long. Normally you hit button 4-5 times then just try with the learn button again. I never would have figured it out if I hadn't watch this video. Should have watched it first. It was like when Clark got the Christmas lights to work! Thanks.

Great video, I have an old Stanley engine with switches, I matched them all and used the same technique on a different universal remote that uses identical instructions. The door did not respond, could it be that it does not match that specific model? (Stanley 440) Refoss remote (Amazon)...

What if there are zeros? What should I switch them to? I have an old sears/craftsman HP 1/2 with nine dip switches and they go in order like this 0 - + - 00000. I wish this would work for me!

I see where the dip settings are on the transmitter, but where is the dip setting at on the garage door receiver itself? How do I know what to set my transmitter to????

Why don't all the tutorials say this??? I spent an hour or so trying to find the "learn" button when it was TOTALLY unneccesary. THANK YOU!!!!!

Thanks for the video. The Chamberlain internet site wasn't working, so the video was a huge help in getting the new remote to control the garage door opener.
