We have had the Midland for years and we are out in a rural area with frequent tornado / severe thunderstorm warnings. Our Midland alert system has gone off before any other information sources we have received. It's especially helpful if things happen at night and people are sleeping...the alarm definitely will alert you! We are about 15 minutes out of town and do not have, or hear the tornado siren that they do and so having this unit has been very Important for us .

My phone just about never picks up on the wireless alerts, so I’ve been wanting one of these for a while. We don’t have tornados too often here, but they can happen, and it’s nice to know this could buy me time to get myself and my cats to safety.

The music was so loud it was difficult to follow along, especially when the instructions didn't work. Please, we want to hear the instructions not the developer's choice in annoying loud music. The manual print is so small, I choose to listen to the video. I couldn't get the date to change to PM at 8:50 at night. The speaker spoke so fast I backed up more than I felt necessary. Still do not have a working WR-120 EZ Midland NOAA Weather Radio.

It sounds like you have the WR120EZ, which is an updated version of the WR120. It's pre-programmed with the codes, so all you need to do is choose the county you are in. This video is for the original WR120, which required manual input of the specific 6 digit code.

NorthWestMontgomeryEAS07 Try moving and adjusting your antenna. I’ve had the same problem but it just took a little bit of moving the antenna. Good luck!

I do NOT know WHY you changed these to this PRESET MESS!!!!???? MY OLD ONE WORKED GREAT FOR 20 YEARS!!!! I purchased a new one yesterday and can NOT get it set up! We have had Watches and Warmings all night and had to sit up and watch weather on TV! It NEVER went off for watches r Warning's!!!! Reset 4 times and still can't get it to work properly!!!?????

To clarify, we are a Midland dealer, not the manufacturer, so these changes were not made on our end. According to Midland, the WR-120 is still programmable and the SAME alerts can be selectively turned off. They do listen closely to customer feedback on their products, so contacting them directly with your concerns will help them further develop and update their products for optimal performance and ease of operation.

Hi Ed, all you need to do is enter the SAME codes for your area into the radio. The winter advisories, tornado warnings and other alerts are issued by the NWS and displayed by the WR-120 when received. Jennifer Riggs I have the same model and have been trying to find out why is it that the radio does not go off during weekly alerts. Midland’s website says it might be silent but that should show on the display. I will be checking next week if that’s true.

@@ChechoDrummer I walked by the radio yesterday and noticed that the "advisory" button was lit up. I pushed it, and "weekly test alert" scrolled across the screen. I didn't actually hear anything, so I don't know if that's how it's supposed to work or not. I do have the audio up because, when I hit the "weather/snooze" button, I can hear the radio. I'm not really sure what's going on.

i have the same model, the weekly test option is turned off by default. you have to find the ‘set events’ option, go to ‘edit events’ and find ‘required weekly test’ and turn it on.

@@jiwachii why do some radios have weekly/monthly/audible/silent/periodic tests off by default? when i first powered on my wr-400 in october of last year once it got delivered to my apartment, i noticed that those test alerts i mentioned were turned off by default

Are weather radio starts beep when there's a warning or watch but it doesn't stop beeping until I press snooze beeping sound so I can hear the guy talking and I have to snooze to stop hearing the guy talking cause it doesn't turn it self off do you guys know the problem with it

The WR120 sounds off an alarm when a warning or watch is broadcast. The alarm does not stop until the snooze button is pressed to hear the alert. This is to be sure someone responds to the alarm and listens to the alert. After the snooze button is pressed to stop the alarm, you will hear the recorded alert broadcast. The alert will loop until the snooze button is pressed to turn it off. This is to ensure that the entire broadcast is heard and any important information that was missed on the previous alert is heard on the repeat alert. That is how a weather radio is supposed to work. This is not a bug. Your weather radio is operating as intended.

go to menu and select ‘alert type’ and select ‘voice’. this will make the siren sound for 10 seconds followed by the radio broadcast. idk if newer models can monitor end-of-message (eom) tones but if they can, then itll turn off when those 3 tiny bursts come.
