Teacher ... What about the person who wrote the check ( DRAWER ) same pronunciation ?
@SpeechModification

Hi, no, that is pronounced with vowel "aw," as in "draw." Thanks for mentioning it.

@SpeechModification

No, you still pronounce the 'er'. So "draw-er" rather than "droar."

Thank you for so clearly explaining this. This is how I've been pronouncing it my entire life. At least for as long as I've been talking. I just moved to the South and I'm calling some stores trying to get a replacement drawer for my desk, and nobody seems to understand what I'm saying! I had to check just to make sure I wasn't perhaps pronouncing it incorrectly all these years and didn't realize it. But, nope. Apparently they don't pronounce it correctly here!

Hi, do they say "drar" or "draw-er?" I imagine you're going to discover a lot of new pronunciations in the coming months.

Hi Christine ! I’m a little confused about the pronunciation of the word “drawing”. I know how to pronounce draw, but the “ing” suffix makes it difficult for me to pronounce. Could you please explain how to say this word ? Thank you in advance !

@@SpeechModification I have not problem with the 'irl' as in girl because the tongue is is in a higher position so it feels natural to go forward for the 'l' sound. But I have much difficulty making l after 'ar' because of the dropped jaw and lower tongue position. Thanks

thank you so doesn't matter what drawer mean either desk's drawer or painter the pronunciation remains the same right? and honestly i thought that in roar or drawer there is like i sound like [ro-ir] one syllable still like you go up in pitch and then drop [dro-ier] just like in pool or feel here its [fee-il] so apparently drawer is not like that so thanks
@SpeechModification
@SpeechModification 3 жыл бұрын
Actually if you're talking about a person who draws, it sounds more /ˈdrɔːər/ - "draw-er" vs. the desk drawer which rhymes with "roar."

Mam I want to find a native speaker to speak with him/her. So how can I find anyone. Please help me with that
@SpeechModification
@SpeechModification 4 жыл бұрын
There are some websites which help people find conversation partners: www.speechmodification.com/blog/how-to-improve-your-english-gain-fluency-through-conversation-practice. I also have a Facebook group where people can find others to practice: facebook.com/groups/SpeechModification. You might not find a native speaker, but practicing with other non-native speakers is beneficial, too. If you want to find a native speaker, you might need to pay a tutor, but you can typically find inexpensive tutors on the internet as well.
