This is literally incredible, I’ve been learning gàidhlig for just over a year and honestly this is so helpful in doing what Duolingo hasn’t. You’re a life saver!

You missed the letter C out of the alphabet again! A great improvement to a fantastic vid, nonetheless.

Hi! Thank you for your video, I’m really glad to see that you cover bilabials and other sounds commonly mispronounced, however there’s one little thing, traditionally the broad single r is never an approximant (English r), it is a flap or tap, like the single r in Irish or Spanish, and the slender r is like a palatal version of the r, which in some dialects can be a ð sound, and you were completely correct with the double r being a trill, as in Spanish and parts of Ireland.

Thank you so much.....It is really helpful when learning to understand the sounds as one doesn't always hear them at first especially online.

Is the pronunciation of broad r as an approximant something of the younger generation? Blas na Gàidhlig emphatically says it shouldn't be pronounced like that, but like a velarized tap/flap.

ubh-al (glottal stop) i think is a Tiree thing.

Oh, interesting! One woman I know who does it is from Gleann nam Màgan in Cape Breton, I also know a pair of cousins (one in Màbu, one in Hogamah) who do it, they learnt Gaelic from their grandmother and I'm not sure where she was from. All of them also have the glug Eiggeach broad L, so I was assuming it might have been a Lochaber feature but I really didn't know.

@@RaghnaidAnnaNicGaraidh I don’t know if UBHAL has glottal stop but FHATHAST does and I think they also say FAIRIS for THAIRIS or is that a western Skye thing. I forget.

Please explain why the s in sgian isn't slender.

Basically the G stops it being so, but I don't exactly know why.
