For the /ɔ:/ vowel I like to call it the 'cute puppy sound' since when I see a cute puppy or kitty I say, 'Aww!'

Thanks that’s a hard one especially for us even my school teacher in middle school didn’t know how to pronounce it correctly and whenever I asked to work and what had the same pronunciation she always used to say: I know it is strange Lara but they have!: so that’s a totally new for me anyway how are you doing? How is life in England? I hope it’s great anyway my classmates just told me about an incident involving an English rapper insulting Italian people saying we are stupid and I was a bit worried about you because I was worried that you may feel hated or discriminated bias just because of one rapper but that’s never going to be the case and if you still wish to visit our country you are still welcome! Not many people knew about the incident but she knew because my classmates are really obsessed with social media drama and TikTok drama which is something that I am totally not into because that’s just not my thing! I didn’t think for a second that all English people hated us or that you Lost my respect because you never will and I have to say! You are even similar to my favourite writer so I don’t think I will ever thank poorly! Besides I’m sure John would have disagreed! It’s a shame he’s not with us anymore really! I always admired him and how he saved those life by teaching her English and helping her to get to the United States for an operation when she was a maid! She was a great professor and a great writer but sadly he left at 51 but I’m sure that now if he had seen what happened he would have defended us even if he was English! John Peter Sloan was literally an Italian born in England!

It must be a bit reassuring to see even your teacher struggles with this! Life here is good! Cold and wet, but life goes on. I hope all is well with you

Walk is pronounced in British English with a closed vowel sound ,right ?
@EnglishWithMichael Жыл бұрын
Do you mean the closed syllable, as in pronouncing the K? If so, yes. The main thing to note is we don't pronounce the L. If you think I misunderstood you, let me know
@Kmnsa1 Жыл бұрын
@@EnglishWithMichael the vowel sound in the word “walk “ is so pronounced : ɔ sound. It’s the same sound as in the word “horse”. So to my ears it’s or it seems a closed sound,unlike the vowel sound in father,which seems to me a little bit opened,more opened . Hope I get my meaning across to you.

I have to watch this video million times to be able to spell them truely ,for me I have a problem with the word (girl ) it's too hard to say it correctly
@EnglishWithMichael3 жыл бұрын
With repitition, it will come in time, I'm sure. Remember though that context is very important. Sometimes it's not so easy to tell so don't worry too much. "Girl" is hard and it totally depends on whether you're trying US or UK pronunciation as they're very different. I'll keep this one in mind for a future video
