***** +1 for English environment. I've changed language to English everywhere I could. I search on Google only in English (it actually gives much better results than using my native language). I've started to read books in English (this way there's no need to wait for translation). And English environment really helps. My English reading speed isn't any worse than my native language reading speed and I have very good reading and listening understanding.

How do you correctly pronounce Years?
@rachelsenglish5 жыл бұрын
You want a Y consonant sound followed by an IH as in SIT vowel followed by an R consonant, and then a Z consonant. This is tricky for many students of English pronunciation - thinking of the vowel sound as an IH as in SIT vowel often helps!

I keep pronouncing everything with Y-sound as the J-sound, Like saying Jello instead of Yellow. The strange thing is that I am from Sweden, and we don't even have the J[dʒ]. Maybe I do this to sound more American even though It is wrong. It can also be because of our J's are pronounced as [j], it's like I am over-doing it. Anyways, I just found this quite interesting.
