When growing hydrangeas, I often use cuttings to propagate this plant. This is a hydrangea that I have been cutting for 35 days. Usually, when the hydrangea cuttings take about 35 to 40 days, the plant will begin to develop roots. This is the root of a hydrangea tree after being cut 35 days.
+ Here is how I experiment with hydrangea cuttings. I choose a young hydrangea branch that has not yet flowered. With this method of cuttings, young hydrangea branches will develop roots more quickly than older hydrangea stems.
* The hydrangea branch is about 10 to 15 cm long. This is a hydrangea branch ready for cutting. The leaves close to the bottom I will cut off, keeping only a few leaves at the top and these are also cut to about 1/2 the size of the leaf.
+ I use floral foam to insert the stem of the hydrangea plant. The effect of the flower arrangement is to better keep the hydrangea stem moist during root formation.
* Hydrangea stems are watered with clean water to keep them moist.
+ Next, is to choose a pot for hydrangea cuttings. I use a small size pot, the diameter of the pot is about 7 cm, there are many drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.
+ The growing medium that I use for hydrangea cuttings is: coir and husk. Composition of coir accounted for about 80% And husk accounted for about 20%. This coir has been treated by me by flushing clean water for about 15 minutes a day. Such coir treatment is carried out for a week before hydrangea cuttings are taken.
+ After I have planted the hydrangea branch in a pot, I will proceed to use a plastic bag to keep the hydrangea moist while waiting for it to take root.
Finally, I put the hydrangea pot with hydrangea cuttings in a cool place, with a net on top. This shade net reduces sunlight by 60%.
When placing the hydrangea pot on the sand, I will place the pot at a 45-degree angle, in the process of wrapping this plastic to keep the moisture will create steam and that steam will not stagnate and flow slowly through the wall of the pot, not on the surface. leaves of hydrangea plant.
