When I was a kid in the 50's my mother had beds of pachysandra around the house and trees. I would cut stems including roots and put them in a bucket of water. I would put 110 footings in the bucket and advertise a hundred plants for three dollars. Each summer I would make $600 to $1,000 for my college fund. (This was in the '50's) The great thing was that the more I picked the faster it grew!

Wonderful video, I learned a lot! Pachysandra grows along the side of our house and we'd like to fill in the bald spots. Also, beautiful room of plants!! I'm an indoor and outdoor plant lover 😊

Excellent job young man, pachysandra is a really nice ground cover. It may be very common, but it is so functional and quite pretty.

You remind me of me, at your age. Hopefully, your family encourages your botanical interest...mine didn't. My parents insisted there was something amiss with me. Cool video, and nice orchids!!!

Isn’t he cute when he is talking about poking a hole in the media with a pencil and he says, “I prefer no. 2”.? What a cutie and since this was done 7 years ago, he probably has his own nursery business by now!

Nice video, I've found pachysandra to be absolutely bulletproof. You can get it to root by just placing cuttings in water, you can also very easily just dig up shoots and move them. I've seen this stuff survive for days even weeks in a pile after being pulled out of the ground, ready to find soil and root.

Any advice on what time of year to transplant?

I believe that he said late spring, when they have new leaves and to avoid flowering plants, And to cut off the flowers . I believe it's to give the cutting more energy to the root system. I know I'll be digging this weekend. Please forgive my ignorance.

Too much talking while facing away from the camera. And even while bending down away from the camera.
