I know this is an old comment, but my horse struggles with the same thing. I bought an anti-itch product which I put in his tail everyday or every other day. Hope this helped!

Look into cactus tails (a high quality, durable braid in tail bag, costs about $30) or a tail boot (braid tail, fold it up, and stick it in the "boot" also about $30)

Erica Schultz Aww I'm sorry! I have been working around horses a lot and I know a lot about their manes and tails. First of all, his hair is falling out because of either something he's eating or a product your using on him. Hair doesn't just fall out because it can, no, there's always a reason. Second, don't braid, sometimes braids can break their hair, especially if it's a tight braid. Next, I would start using only all natural products on his tail, things like essential oils can do MIRACLES on your horse! I recommend Doterra essential oils. Rose oil and some others will really help. Dilute the essential oils with another oil that's not an essential one, like olive or something else. Put it in a spray bottle and spray on your horses tail, brush it very gently, NOT with a comb, with a brush. Then you can either put a tail wrap on or just leave it in like it is. Make sure he's also not rubbing and itching at his tail, that will break and affect it very much. I really hope this helps!

1.) Doterra is a MLM (Multilevel Marketing) Scheme 2.) Essential Oils do not have any scientifically proven benefits. But they do have many scientifically proven cons. They really only exist to smell nice. Essential oils are extremely strong chemicals that when used improperly can cause serious damage to the skin or lungs. 3.) If you want healthy products for your horse (or yourself) then look for soap made using the cold process. It's basically a mixture of oils with lye. The lye reacts with the oils to make what we call soap. Look for soap labeled superfatted. This means it has extra oil in the soap to garuntee all lye is gone from the original reaction.

I put my horses mane in braides over night and when I took them out the next day almost all his mane had fallen out. It was beautiful long and thick but now there are short pieces sticking in the air and it’s really uneven would biomane help him?

Always remember, it's very *important* not to get the braids too tight at the base of the mane where it grows out of the horse's neck. Same with the tail bone. It will irritate the horse's neck or tail bone, causing him or her to start rubbing and scratching it.

As someone who knows nothing about horses, I'm surprised your horse didn't kick you at all during the making of this video. I was always told to never stand directly behind a horse. How do you know it won't kick..?
@natep1325
@natep1325 2 жыл бұрын
@Alec that is a horse that he has worked with a lot (she's not tied up). You never want to walk up behind a horse unannounced or they will kick at you. If you start at the front of a horse you can work and walk all around them with no issues (generally). He has a partnership (trust)with this mare, which is what you want with your horse.

Nate is right! Horses have almost 360 degree vision. However, they can't see directly behind them, and just like us- they can't see their noses. So, you want to make sure the horse knows you are back there, and is comfortable with you behind them. They usually won't kick unless they become startled, or agitated. This mare knows her handler, and she isn't tied up, so she can see him behind her. She trusts him with her tail, and isn't bothered by him back there, hence her cocked hip- she holds one foot funny, the same way we tend to lean on one foot when we are relaxed. She's done this loads of times before, and it's something she's used to, so she is content to just model while he shows off her back end.

I don’t understand why your using electric tape though If you just use a gentle loose secure band or two it will work fine and won’t damage your horses hair
