Very useful- thank you! Raw beginner here, new homeowner, loads of refinishing, DIY projects, etc, etc, and his was exactly what I needed as I learn to refinish old furniture. Thanks!

Seems pretty simple! Thank you! What do you do with those dirty mineral spirits afterwards? I remember my dad always having a jar he would soak brushes in, but I never remember what he would do with the stuff once they were clean.

You should check with you local recommendations, but it sit for a couple months until the stuff in it coagulates and settles to the bottom. Then strain it out and reuse it.

Be careful with the plastic cups, I usually use a scale to double check because a lot of times the little lines are off for measuring. Thank you for the video.

Would acetone work since its pretty much pain thinned?
@EverythingHouse2 жыл бұрын
It could work, however if you use it too aggressively, then you can damage the bristles on the brush. They may start falling out. Let me know how it goes!

Wish I could say it worked that easy for me. Had to wash out 2" linzer 3x's in mineral spirits, after using up whole paint rag still had stain coming off. Perhaps the way I loaded stain on brush?
@EverythingHouse11 ай бұрын
It's possible. You don't want to completely saturate the brush.

Thank you!!! This was so helpful! I'm new to wood working and I've ruined 2 brushes. First time, I thought paint thinner would work, second time I tried warm water and soap. Both of them are now hard as a rock😂

Glad I could help! I've also ruined a brush or two.. 👍

The ratios are for different paints & activators. Different paints sometimes require a thinner or hardener. I.e. automotive paint requires so many parts paint to thinner/reducer to hardener. For example, 4:2:1.
@EverythingHouse Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. It's very important to get the ratios right.

If we have to let the mineral spirits settled before we can reuse it, is it safe to leave it in that little cup from the video? It seems like it would eat through that plastic.
@EverythingHouse5 ай бұрын
Never had a problem and I forgot the cup filled for like a year.

Can you reuse that towel after it’s covered in mineral spirits/wood stain. If so how do you clean it
@EverythingHouse2 жыл бұрын
I haven't found a way to effectively clean it. It becomes a rag in the shop until it's too dirty or crusty to salvage.

Thank you ! So easy ..but I don't have paint thinner ..Can I wait til the next day to clean if I wrap the brush in plastic?
