Great video Joe! Nailed it with the difference in goals between prep wash and maintenance wash. I actually never thought of STARTING with the iron remover. I usually APC pre spray, wash, dry, then iron decon, then rinse and dry again. Seems like starting with this step might save some major time. At what point do you use a bug and tar remover to go after heavy tar?

A lot of good information but if I could make a suggestion. When I’m cleaning my vehicle I do the least dirty parts first like the roof, than I work my way down to the windows and so on. I leave the bottom of the vehicle all around for last so I’m not bringing that dirt back up.

Nice job Joe! Have you ever tried Iron X snow foam soap as a decon wash? Try squirting it directly onto wash mitt then onto each panel. It works better at stripping imo.

@kikcodog4 жыл бұрын
Great video as always Joe! COuple of quick questions. 1. Do you find the soap causes the clay to break down? 2. What clay do you use? 3. Given your technique, is there a reason you don't use a synthetic clay towel/mitt/Sponge?
@NextLevelAutoDetail4 жыл бұрын
The soap can break down a clay bar. However I am not worried about that. My goal is to remove everything I can so I’m not picking up anything during the paint correction step. After use I RINSE the clay bar with water and continue to fold it exposing new sides this does add longevity to the clay bar Synthetic clays are great for what they do knock down contaminants fast.... however they do not remove as much as the clay bar does. You can almost guarantee that some bonded surface contamination will remain. The clay bar does take longer but they are also more exact I can get in and around tight areas and they are better at picking up contamination I actually sometimes use both a clay mit and finish with the clay bar to pick up that last % of dirt that the mitt isn’t effective at removing. A clay bar will always be used by me.

Excellent video - thank you. To be clear, the first step in this process is to spray on the iron decontamination spray - is this correct? If yes, I find it interesting that the first step isn't a basic wash to remove surface dirt, then dry the vehicle, and then apply the iron decontamination spray. Thank you

This was great and I will do it just the same. Only difference for me is il run the car thru a car wash the day before, then the next day go straight for the iron remover first,then wash and rinse real good to make sure none of that iron remover stays in the niches. Then il clay the car,wash again,hand polish the whole car, wash again, do an ipa+ detergent+distilled water mix wipe down. Then il seal the bare paint with seal and shine and top it with spray wax. Then once a month for the next 6 months just wash and spray a coat of wax.

Hey, hope you're doing well! I have decided to detail my car after feeling confident watching your videos now 😄 It's a Pearl White color hatchback. It has swirls if you look closely from an angle. I want to get a shinny smooth finish with minimal cost as I might also sell the car in a few months to upgrade. I have a few questions 😁 1. I'll clean car thoroughly, maybe use an iron remover 2. I'll Clay 3. Compound 4. Polish 5. Wax Now in my country car products are expensive as it's all import. I had a plan to do Meguires Ultimate compound, then ultimate polish and wax. It's a small car and the Wax specially is most expensive! Should I go with the Meguires White paste wax? As it's a white color, swilrs won't be visible right. Will it be suitable to apply that directly after claying. Just 1 product? Thanks
@freddyj58452 жыл бұрын
White wax is a wax cleaner with SMAT abrasives and can be used as an all in one. Meaning use a good polishing pad and use it as a compound/polish. You can finish off with a spray wax to seal it.

nice vid..i use the megs wheel cleaner on paintwork as well, i noticed you do the iron removal first on dirty paint, why do u think so many detailers do it after they wash? when you use it on wheels u dont usually wash them first so whats the difference?

In all reality I agree with you. Most cases a decently contaminated car will require 2 applications anyway. Washing the car and drying it just adds another step to an already grueling process

A lot of detailer flowchart to strip wash a car is wash>dry>iron remover>rinse>then clay with luber or onr> then polish / one step> coat may i ask if it’s still fine doing it your way of spray iron remover on dry car then > clay with strip wash > rinse then one step? Also after you one step polish / correct and wipe off the compound do you wipe it down with isoprop or go straight into the ceramic coating ? Thanks !
@NextLevelAutoDetail4 жыл бұрын
Dezcanso the overall goal on the project is what determines the iron removal stage. The goal is to apply it on dry paint that way it’s not diluting/blocking the iron remover. A lot of things can factor in on when it’s appropriate to wash -dry - iron or iron than wash. Such as if the car isn’t that dirty, or you are on a time crunch. You are essentially going to be drying it twice with the other option. On higher end jobs that are compensating for a lot of my/your time then absolutely wash dry iron is the better option. If I’m doing an enhancement/production buff if And I suspect that the car is heavily contaminated with iron I will include additional cost when it comes to my quote. This particular truck got an enhancement and iron removal. Always factor in your cost when using iron remover it’s one of the most costly expenses for a Detailer. Always factor the cost of the iron into your pricing.

@@NextLevelAutoDetail thanks bro. and also after you buff off the polish do you isoproply wipe down before apply ceramic coatings or waxes?

Question, since you are using meguiars AP wheel cleaner. Is it safe to say I can use my super clean as a substitute of iron removal? Just curious.
@NextLevelAutoDetail3 жыл бұрын
No super clean is just a degreaser it will not remove the iron contamination like the Meguiars wheel cleaner. Megs wheel cleaner isn’t just a degreaser/cleaner its chemical make up is specifically designed to react with iron particles.

@@NextLevelAutoDetail Ahh, understood, and makes sense, being that super clean biodegradable lol. Guess I'll be getting the meguiars. Thanks for the feedback.

You should check out using Optimum Ferrex as a clay lube with their clay towel. It’ll do what you’re doing but a lot faster and with less mess. Love the videos!
@NextLevelAutoDetail4 жыл бұрын
trapcracker I’m still a believer in the clay bar. Clay mitts or blocks are good for enhancement or if time isn’t on your side. I still prefer using the clay bar especially on heavily contaminated cars. The beauty is with detailing is everybody has there own way of doing things there is no right or wrong answer The only thing that matters is the end result.
@marioskosmidhs94544 жыл бұрын
@@NextLevelAutoDetail I agree sir 100%, and i think using ferrex as clay lub is not giving to the ferrex the proper duel time to resolve all the iron particles as it sould. Just spend 10 more minutes to do seperate steps..........at my opinion. great video congratulations
