How To Properly Prune Tomatoes: To Prune or Not?

Should you prune your tomato plants? In this video, I share some tips on how to prune tomato plants from my personal experience. This was filmed in June, and I had intended to post sooner but life got busy. Hopefully, this video is not too late for some of you. If it is too late, save this video for next year planting! :)

Good morning Emma. Great information to know about tomato's. I prune similar to you in that all the lower branches that are damaged or touching the ground. Really helps with the air flow. I will only pinch suckers or prune branches above the fruit or flowers if they rub on each other or they are causing some other issue. I will also cut the top of of the main stem when I feel the height of the indeterminate tomatoes are getting higher than I can comfortably manage because this will stop the upward growth. I agree with you that you get more fruit if you let the plant grow naturally 🙂Thanks for sharing 🥰

I prune all the lowest leaves and suckers below the first flower And I continue to prune when they outgrow the trellis I am growing them with I mostly grow indeterminate cherry tomatoes With my dwarf tomatoes, I remove the bottom leaves as well and some leaves that’s crowding the fruits Thank you for a very detailed explanation what to prune
