Yea a good tip for most exercise is to extend your thumb to the limit of the handle then grab there

Doesn’t work everyone this depends on the length of your arms and height I get a maximum contraction with close grip on the upper chest and if you if you go wide grip with shorter arms your going to be proned for shoulder injury

@Ryan retract your shoulder. It may feel weird at first, but you'll end up feeling a crazy stretch of that pec. And also make sure the handle is around nipple level.

Hmmm. Well, if mechanical tension is what you are looking for, then keep your hands in closer. Wouldn't having your hands in closer activate more chest fibers considering you are adducting? Yes, abducting your hands will cause the chest to lengthen, but if more tension is what you are looking for, keep the hands in and perform the movement.

Pretty sure close grip works if you put your seat higher the angle of the close grip at this height is weird cause your hand are almost directly in line with your shoulder. The angle of the space between your arm and body should be more narrow for close grip if all your targeting the shoulder like that not the triceps

On a chest press machine it doesnt really matter imho. Maybe you'll slightly work less your upper chest conpared to the rest of the chest but at the end of the day you're still hitting the chest. Do whatever is more comfortable for you

Whenever I do with Press machine my left side gets a hit but the right side is lagging behind because I use my left side a lot then my right side

@@sOURAVRana2001 we must be carefull , my left side lifts the weight properly than the right side as a result my right pec muscle got a little tore due to posture problem my body aligned itself in a way that my left side lifts better hence I think I tore or damaged my right pec, now it's smaller than the left and Sometimes hurts, need to visit a physiotherapist

Should the lower back be hard up against the back support, I see people move their buttocks forward but wouldn't this defeat the purpose of doing in incline. Butt forward turns it into a flat press in my opinion. True or not?

Wrong close still works the pecs , just emphasis more upper (a lot) then lower but still gets some lower, and more tris. Do your research before spouting nonesense .

Only that does the opposite of activating the chest, unless you’re also protracting the shoulders at the end of the press - precisely why powerlifters arch their back: to deload the chest and increase the amount of weight they can lift.

@@maysenprice Well go with low weight and then adjust the seat so you don't feel shoulders Easy My chest press is a beautiful Nautilus its like hammer strength same and you can go unilaterally with it but ofc I do with 2 handles at the same time Yeah its the same as the chest press in this video
