That is so cute! I got one of these greenhouses but it's still snowing here so haven't put it up yet. It gets really windy, too & staking the sides is a great idea! Job well done . I would have used the wooden fence as the main support by strapping the inner frame through the plastic and screwing it to the timber fence which looks very secure and stable . I would have done this on all eight points of the greenhouse therefore avoiding any trip hazards . Happy gardening from Australia 🦘

good, now you have learned to build the frame with wood and plastic skin on inside and outside for added warmth with still air between two layers and a cotton rope over it to anchor down...much cheaper in the long run. only question left is what shape will you choose? i chose a quanset style so the skin lays over the rounded roof and drapes down the sides which means most of the skin is one big rectangle and that is how the plastic is sold.

Again, thank you for sharing your video on securing your greenhouse.

I like these reinforcement ideas. it would be nice of course if they just made them sturdier in the first place, but when you're in a temporary space or when you're on a budget, these inexpensive greenhouses can't be beat. Thanks for sharing this! IDK if you will see this comment as it's two years later, but in case you do, I'm curious as to how it's held up in that time? Oh! Nice informative video, I just hope that people will shop around before purchasing one. The one that I have from Wayfair, has torn already and one of the zippers has broken. Your covering looks to be a much better quality compared to the one that I have, which resembles a plain sheet of plastic 81.00 wasted I guess
@daieast63052 жыл бұрын
a wood frame is easy to build and doesn't have to be perfect and the plastic for the skin and a small hand powered staple-gun is cheap and easy but do not forget to throw a piece of cotton rope over it. with a wood frame it is not difficult to provide an inside and an outside skin so that the still air between two layers is warmer..... live and learn, no mistakes, only lessons!
@nawaloka2 жыл бұрын
Great tips for reinforcing the greenhouse! I just purchased one on Amazon, and planning to do the same with yours. May I ask if you take the green house down during off season? I read on the reviews that the plastic cover won't last very long if being left on the entire year. I would like to know how I can extend the life of my green house. Some people say they spray theirs down with uv protection but I have no idea with which ones to get.
@gardeningwithmel2 жыл бұрын
Since I live in zone 9a which I leave up all year long and don't plan to take down. For the price I paid so far it is doing well, with no issues. If I notice any breakdown or wear and tear, I'll just repurchase and reinforce it the same way.
@suethomassen15202 жыл бұрын
I attached a thin bamboo blind to the top/roof, and used the cords to tie it down. This gives it abit of protection from the sun, [plants too], and using tent pegs to secure, this just anchors it down. I saw on other site, the plastic will perish, leaving bits on ground, so either put away in winter or look to cover the whole thing??

Hello, looks great. I’m putting mine up today. One question, did you leave the plastic cover up during the winter? I’ve seen some videos talking about how it deteriorates.
@gardeningwithmel2 жыл бұрын
I've left mine up and it is still going strong. I'm in ZONE 9a in Texas, so we don't have much of a winter, but if you live in a zone that has harsher winters you could cover it with a tarp or blanket if you choose. But, if I notice deterioration over the years I would just purchase another one, they don't cost much!

Unfortunately not during the late fall and winter months. But if you have some type of heating system installed during the colder months, it could possibly work. But I would recommend bring the plant indoors, if possible.

Hello 😊 My beautiful daughter just bought me one of these. Thank you for yr tips. I think I will do the same reinforcements to mine. 😊 Can I ask a question? You said at the beginning of the video that people would be bringing their indoor plants out to the greenhouse. What season would it be? I really don't know much about this. I have a lot of indoor plants. Would my indoor propagation and indoor baby plants benefit from this greenhouse in Winter in Melbourne Australia? Wouldn't it be cold for them or is the green house warm in Winter too?
