Though I hear it can be a bit difficult to grow as bonsai because it doesn’t bud-back and hates root disturbance. Someone at my local bonsai club recently told me that the trick to repotting Mānuka successfully is to only touch a third of the root ball at a time and to pre-wet the new soil before adding it to the pot (apparently the roots have a tendency to very quickly dry up and die if you don’t do this).

Yay- a New Zealand species of tree! Here in NZ Leptospermum is more commonly called Mānuka. Yes, the tree from which the famous honey is sourced. 🌲🐝🍯
