@FoxBoss831 At least someone sees sense! Lynn Russell is a well respected show producer who has years of experience and knows EXACTLY what she's talking about. The only cobs you see with long hair on their tails are Welsh cobs.

Not abuse , DONT COMMENT IF YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT HORSES ! Common sense!! Pulling the tail is to thin it out so it doesnt become matted and is easier to clean and keep dirt out of it.

@THismydream12 This is not abuse. Everyone who shows cobs does this (some - very few - just use combs to pull the tails they way everyone used to which can make the tails bleed. Those combs are so much more humane). The horse only tucked his bum in when she started because it made him jump - my pony does the same when I run my hands underneath his tail because he's not expecting it and he has a bit of a ticklish tail.

@CarouselEquestrian I know a cob that scratches because they were having to clip his tail because he wouldn't let you pull it and they got one of those combs and he's an awful lot better. I did think it was a little bit hard, but she did say that she hadn't touched his tail for a year and you never know whether she'd recently had the blades sharpened or not.

My mum only pulls our pony's mane because he's a native and we're not allowed to touch his tail (a bit difficult to explain to a judge when he rubs it when his coat is growing back after being clipped :P)

HA! To all of the people who know nothing about horses... Firstly, the tool she is using is a blade, a thinning blade... If you've ever had your hair layered or feathered at the salon, its pretty well the same thing. It pulls a little, but nothing uber painful. As well, often you "pull" (or thin, for you people that know nothing) to save the horses tail from self inflicted rubbing. In hot summers, or cold winters, or during their "heat" (mating season) horses will rub their tails. If you've already thinned it, their chubby butts will often protect most of the hair. If you don't know about horses, don't comment.

Why in the world would someone cut a horse's tail that short!
@hannahbananaroxsox13 жыл бұрын
@pollylemon Exactly. Not animal abuse. If any of these people want to see the real definitions of animal abuse they should google the Spindle Farm case. Now that was equine abuse in its worst possible form.

as long as they never stand around outside or are ridden in the rain/storm it isnt abuse..

Not abuse in any form...if it hurt he would let her know...

I know that you have to do this to cut it short but I love my horses tail to be long,

i am not a fan of tail pulling, would rather plait it because in the bad weather the hair at the top of the tail gives horses protection from the elements, it would be like cutting a hole in your trousers and then making you stand out in the wind, also pulling tails does hurt more than pulling manes which is why it is recommended tails are pulled little and often and not all at once, my horse lets you know mane pulling hurts never mind tail pulling lol its not abuse but i don't like it

Bring back plaiting I say, I don't think this looks nice, but I see it is functional and doesn't involve the time or skill of plaiting. My horse has a full mane and tail required for showing but I would plait it or leave it full otherwise!

crazy...his tail is already thinned out!
@2houndsdesign56012 жыл бұрын
I was expecting to find a how to on Pulling the dock not using to tool to cut the hairs. A pulled hair includes the root so it will not have a sharp end growing out and itching the horse. Title of video should be changed to properly reflect the how to. She also sheered the tail on top. Looks bad. Short cuts are a waist of time.
