If you can get it into small ponytails, then you should be able to do it, you might not be able to pull in the hair that much, but just look out for where the ends of the hair is :D x

Good hairbands shouldn't do that, make sure they're either covered with thread/fabric, or made of silicone rather than actual rubber. Rubber parts when you stretch it and the hair gets caught in the gaps.
