I used to be able to do 22 pull ups with no muscle up. To do muscle ups, doing further pull ups and dips wont help you. If you wanna do muscle ups, you gotta train your muscle ups. Practice the swing, your false grip, actually going around the bar. I went from no muscle ups to 4 muscle ups in a single session ofter learning the technique. A muscle up is not a pull up + dip, its a whole different movement, so treat it like one

A tip that helped me: Add some weights bro If you can go 10reps with an extra 20kg weighing you down, imagine what would happen if you remove that plate. For me, I felt light as a feather. Before my first muscle-up, I never even tried it before that day. Then I thought to myself: "What would happen if I remove this 25kg..." And the rest is history 🙏
@pashagaranin95715 ай бұрын
Surely the equivalent of adding weight is reaching the bar to your waist or at least under chest, as he says in the vid? I guess both adding weight and trying to perform pull-ups to waist are both great to do

Everyone should keep in mind that this is a calisthenic goal approach and not a strength building approach. If you can’t even do a pull-up, your focus should be on muscular hypertrophy either through lat pulldowns or assisted pull-ups. With those, you should be focused on slow eccentric (aka the negative or letting the counter weight fall slowly) movement and explosive concentric movement (aka the positive or the actual forceful pulling of the weight by your body). That is what is going to build enough muscle to have the strength for pull-ups in the first place
@M4R5-C4V14R4 ай бұрын

If you don't completely retrain your pull-up form and the contraction chain to look like that form in the video you'll never do a muscle up unless you're lucky enough to just be able to get crazy fast pullups which is rare. If you're just doing straight up and down pull-ups or doing arched back pull-ups and that's your normal form you won't be getting around that bar. This angled pull where there's an outward pushdown sort of movement needs retraining and you can't do it in a regular pullup if you've done regular pullups for a long time. You need to get some exercise bands or support under your feet to allow you hold yourself at that angle (just swinging forward won't do it either because again you need to develop the strength to push outward as well as pull and if your reflex is just the pull it ain't happening) so you can execute your pullup more like a pullover. Pullovers and machines aren't really sufficient either unless the machine were really designed to train that specific movement along its full range and you won't find that at a planet fitness. Exercise bands heavy enough to allow the speed, progress your resistance downward as you get better with the new motion until you're coming down allowing the forward swing into that angle and the pull that's as much a pullover as a pull up
@hemi5.7awdpursuit55 ай бұрын
No matter what version you do on pull ups if done properly. You can still get results as proven. Only difference is how unique you want your exercises to be on your journey in fitness

@@DrBreyn so essentially, your body has a protective mechanism that signals the shortening of muscle fibers if it feels like they are stretching to a point of damage.
