25 years ago, I saw an old man in Philippines who was doing this on the streets. He was selling his kits with a free tutorial. It was amazing.

Thank you for this video - you have solved a mystery for me! My mother gave me a velvet cushion cover she had made, with fluffy woollen flowers and leaves embroidered on it, but she wouldn't tell me how she had done it! My father used to make hooky rugs, and I know I saw a punch needle amongst his tools, without knowing how it was actually used. I have inherited all the bits and pieces, and they are lurking, unused, in the depths of my sewing box. Now I know that this must have been how my mother made her flowers, I will try for myself. I also have some flat metal flower templates that I presume Mum used. I think these were also used by my grandmother, as I remember seeing the same sort of embroidered flowers on her 'antimacassar' chair backs when I was a child, but hers were done in a shiny, chenille type thread on a heavy linen fabric. It's great to think that I can now continue using these tools that have been in my family for so long. I am inspired! Thanks again.

You mentioned not to make loops too big but that would be on back anyway?

In this case, yes. It's just that it would be a shame to use up too much yarn, which is going to be on the back anyway.

Beautiful piece and excellent tutorial! Thank you for sharing your pattern and technique! As I understand, the tails in the back are just trimmed, perhaps at the same hight of the loops? I am making a piece where the right side has the flat stitched, like when you started with the stems and the bottom brown. However, when I began, the loops in the back were a little too small, but it was too late to redo it. Should I be concerned that they might loosen? Thank you!
@studioversie4 жыл бұрын
Thanks again, Helena! It's hard for me to judge if they are too small, but yes it's possible that they could come loose if you handle it a lot. If it's a piece that is going on the wall and nobody will touch it, I think you should be fine. For pieces, like pillows, the loops can't be too short.

Very nicely explained thanks I am from India it says plthis punch needle cannot be delivered to India on your etsy link so is there any other way to order?

Sweet pattern! What kind of glue are you using? I just did a large circle punch needle piece and I cut all of the loops last night and am concerned that they might come loose if I turn it into a pillow. What would you recommend in that situation? Thank you 💜😊

What I need to know is the yarn and needle ratios are. I have a ton of cross-stitch cloth that looks exactly like monk cloth, but can't figure the right yarn thickness for the fabric.
@studioversie4 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with cross stitch, but I don't think the cloth is suitable. What I've seen from cross stitch fabric, is that it's quite stiff and that's not going to work. The loops from punch needle won't stay in. For monk's cloth about a 12 count should work.
