I have an alternative finishing twist to the under wire that you and/or your Subscribers may find useful. It leaves a rounded end with no real need for tape and enables the spur to be put on L or R boot with no risk of adverse effect. Having twisted the wires around the boot, on the opposite side I loop 1 wire over/through the button/bracket and then bend it down and resume the twist a time or two. I don’t cut it. I bend each end wire into an “L” shape; which makes a kind of 2 wire handles. Then one after the other, give them 2 or 3 quick winds (same direction as it is twisting) and twist off the ends. This leaves the ends of the twist kind of rounded, instead of sharp edged, as they will be if cut. If there are any raised edges they could be smoothed off with a small fine-toothed file. Using a pair of square jawed pliers, I twist the end thus tied off, under, so it lies between the twists and yoke (side of the spur); and tap it in firmly - nothing protruding. Doing it as a one-person task leaves Cheech to clean the pool with a clear Conchos.

You can also put the two ends of the wire into a drill and just hold the spur down with your foot just don’t drill for too long or the wire will snap. Dale yeah 🤙🏼 🤠
