I still have my ol riggin bag from when I rode. One bull strap, one glove, bag of Illegal rodeo rosin , liquid rosin, bar of saddle soap, 2 sets of spurs 3 sets of rowls ( one sets illegal now) 2 extra sets of spur straps , wire brush, wire , wire cutters, duct and medical tape, and the Dripping Springs newspaper when Brent Thurman got killed by Redwolf. I gave my old leggins away.

Thanks Dale. This helped me better understand the investment and commitment by those in rodeo. I'd be interested to hear how someone can become more involved and participate in rodeo beyond just sitting and attending. Have a great day!

I’m a “hobby” bull rider. Thank you for the video, it made me think. I’ve gotten my experience from just jumping on bulls and figuring it out, which I’ve paid the price. I’m going to attend a school and get some professional instruction to mitigate, and hopefully prevent, injuries. Thanks Dale.

I recommend you build relationships with riders and stock contractors to find more practice pens and cheap gear. Most riders either own bulls or know guys who buck often.
@DaleBrisbyBullRider
@DaleBrisbyBullRider 2 жыл бұрын
Yessir that is right to an extent. Cheap gear can get you hurt in the bull riding. Even on a jump kicker, getting hung up because you're using an outdated bull rope can get you seriously injured. Cheap isn't always better. Even in the horse riding events, cheap bareback riggins will roll, putting you in a BIG bind. Cheap bronc saddles can have a variety of different problems. They may not fit a horse correctly, the tree could be broken which would move around on you, the leathers could bend wrong, the stirrups could break. Be careful with "cheap." You go to a Sankey School and they will make sure you're properly equipped. So you pay a little more up front (but npt really) and you learn the right way with quality equipment while you learn.

Hey Dale, thanks for all that you do for cowboy culture. I have a different opinion on riding bulls as a hobby. I ride broncs as a hobby which means I do it for fun. My riding got better when I started having more fun and I wasn't relying on it to make a living which takes the pressure off. I don't personally see an issue with rough stock as a hobby if you are taking good care of yourself, practicing, and getting on appropriate-level stock. Just my two cents. You're the man.

That’s a lie 😂 idc how much money you pay big difference in get on a bulls back and actually riding a bull. Riding take talent and that can’t be bought folks. @DaleBrisbyBullRider
@DaleBrisbyBullRider 2 жыл бұрын
Well some people don't make it, true, but the ones who do make it and do eventually ride well still have to start somewhere. So are you suggesting someone not go to a school or a practice pen, and they simply enter a rodeo and win? I'm confused as to what is a lie in this video, hand.

@@DaleBrisbyBullRider nothing in the video the “title” is what I commented about! If one wants too get into actually riding it’s gonna take time and time is money! but getting too that level can’t be bought! It’s something you cannot actually put a price on. Getting on and riding are 2 totally different things. Also my first comment was before watching! I’m not saying what was said was wrong or a lie. But the title of the video makes it out like one can become a “rider” for $700! That’s what I commented on. :

Oh ok, so you're saying I should have named the video, "How to ride bulls for under $700, but keep in mind that is just the start and this sport (like any thing in life) will take a lot of time and effort to become the best." Something tells me KZbin doesn't allow that many characters in a title. Something else tells me that what you're saying is completely obvious to anyone who clicks on the video and is seriously trying to pursue the sport. Something also tells me that you're probably real fun at parties.
