Cleaning the power port was the problem with my daughter Iphone 5c ... I was actually not that mad because she paid for it (not me) and I told her she was responsible the device .... today it wouldn't charge and she tried to give me the "Please dad save me tears" so before taking it to a phone store something told me to visit "KZbin" this was the first shot in the dark and it worked first time ... How do I put my phone into DFU mode without the power button? I have an SE and the power button isn't functioning properly. Doesn't ever lock screen, but sometimes it will bring up the power off screen. I tried upgrading to iOS 13 to see if that was the issue, but it's not. I can get into recovery mode, but not DFU mode.

After watching several video's on youtube this was the only one with the correct steps. Worked on iphone 6 perfectly. The key was letting go of the power button after 5 seconds. Like others have stated, I did get the "unknown error (9)" on the first attempt. After starting over, the restore was successful on the second attempt. Thanks guys!

Not mentioned in the video but it was mentioned in the comments below...warming up my iPhone 6s worked! I tried all the steps in the video except DFU restore, but my phone would not charge over 17%. I saw the comment about applying a small amount of heat to the phone so used my wife's hairdryer to warm up the phone and it started charging right after that with same charger and cord that I was using before. I don't understand why that worked , but it did...maybe it's a symptom of something wrong with the battery?

I bought a new aftermarket charger cable 3-4 months ago as my original IPhone 6S was excessively frayed. In the past few months I had my battery replaced as it showed poor Health in Battery Settings/Status. This time phone would not charge once connected with new cable (on computer or on power outlet with power outlet). I tried a new IPhone charger from family member and it charges just fine. So, here it is the cable or power outlet adapter. I suspect that it's the power adapter outlet because I had had success bypassing it charging in the car. At the same time, I feel there may be a problem with the new long 6 foot cable as well since it would not charge from computer. It is rather weird. However I can keep the phone for a few more months now.

Hey that's another great video, I have a quick question for you my phone is acting up with random access ghosts texting going through my photos etc. So I've decided I'm going to do a DFU restore as per your instructions on my iPhone X. Now question: once it has been restored back to factory settings how do I recover my iCloud back up that I had just done prior to DFU? My phone's problem is it restarts every now and then to the point I can't really use it anymore. This was my only hope. It made into dfu mode but once its extraction reached halfway it would restart then it won't be recognized anymore. Tried so many times but it just keeps repeating. Thanks for the video anyway! Hi Carlos, here's what Apple says about error 9: support.apple.com/en-us/HT201444 - But what you should do is to try DFU restoring your iPhone with a different cable using iTunes on a friend's computer. After the DFU restore finishes and you see 'Hello' on the screen, pull your iPhone right out of their computer and set it up however you like.

My iPhone 8 had started with the battery quickly discharging. Then it lead to the phone battery just instantly dyeing when I would attempt to open an app or perform some other action. I deleted many of the apps and performed the DFU after doing a couple of your other fixes as checking for hacks ie. I have reinstalled a few apps (not FB) and it still has the battery completely drained when I perform an action of some type. Can you please help?

In 8:36 minutes you never said what DFU stand for?! DFU is Device Firmware Update. You need to think about the viewer and not shake your phone so much. You can always edit the final video, I say that because having that mishap with the phone coming back on was helpful as what can happen, but inline within the instruction video. So, I hope you take these suggestions and make better videos in the future.

@@bronzechicken4437 iPhone 8 here and doesn't work. With phone unplugged and powered down, hold power and volume down button while plugging phone in. That works.

Can you do this in a way, so that an iPhone 6 can be restored with a backup from an iPhone 12?
