Quite a long process probably not as long as liquid form as it needs constant smoothing I wonder , some use this mats loose so they can shake them out but in have seen on her but the horses end up moving them that the concrete is bare so at some point the floor will get soiled so this way is totally best. Hope you and rens and Steve are coping in this difficult time of restrictions and are covid free.x

Boy, these rubber mats are heavy. Wouldn't want to shake them out ! I'm glad they're sealed to floor too. Cleaning should be a breeze with a broom, like Tara's others. She could even shop vacuum and give an occasional soap and hose scrub, I'll bet. What dream floors for comfort, cleanliness and to discourage flys and huge straw mounds!

@@jodyhuston1516 yeah straw isn't nice to handle or lay on hay for me is much nicer when I used to go to play with the farmers youngest son where we used to live they had cattle and boy the smell of urine was worse than there poop smelled in the straw and concrete absorbs wee in , i have to say though I've had a little experience of mucking out stables much better experience to clean out than cow sheds lol luckily never had to big job leave that to the farmers . Growing up in villages country smells don't bother me but unfortunately there wasn't any massive foul sheds and a few miles away from where I moved to has and when they clear it out and the wind is in our direction the smell is evil I feel sorry for birds living with the ammonia that builds up I wonder if it ever kills any of the birds their suppose to not cram so many in the sheds now but I bet they still do to be able to smell it so strongly! Also nearest sewage works is equal to bird poop there's one on the outskirts of town so when they clean out not so nice visiting my local town when it travels in the air there.

@@Tara101 very frustrating and it could last till June to clear away , I was considering to buy some fish from pet shop chain but when I went Tuesday for cat food they couldn't sell fish and animals for the safety of the staff. More important to stay safe so I guess livestock can't be moved or traded at market. Scary times for all stay safe.x

Ikey of course did a grand job of supervising the work.😉 I'm wondering why the man putting the flooring down wasn't wearing knee pads for his poor knees!?😕 The new flooring looks quite nice as well as comfy.🙂 Good that you had the warranty for the repair of the hole in Farouk's stall.🐎 That is a lot of work for the flooring. I'm sure Apollo will be comfortable in his new stall.💜

This is just excellent. I like the textured surface on Apollo's floor, and the thickness - bound to make his feet, legs and back feel good. (as rubber floor mats over ceramic tile/stone floors do for us, in front of our kitchen sinks !) The rubber must have a strong scent for a little while, how long does it need to air before it dissipates? I hope we get to see Apollo's first reaction to his lovely new stall ! Tara, your new tack room will be terrific, can hardly wait to see it come together ! Is there room for a chair, sink, electric tea kettle and a little flat screen tv for when you clean tack, lol ?? This was incredibly interesting to me! They really seemed to know what they were about, quite detailed in the process, very steady. That has to benefit the horses :) You are such good stewards for your babies! Two very lucky boys :) It's so interesting to see your journey with your builds :) Nothing interesting here- we are still looking for houses but haven't gone out to see any more places (with sheltering in place...). I hadn't had the heart till now to say the house we loved we had scheduled to put an offer on, but literally on the way to that appt realtor called and told us someone from out of state bought it... We were in shock- but having worked in banking/real estate, I stressed IF the loan didn't go through, we had backing from banks (she knew this was no problem for us). The house sale to out of state person is still pending... The real estate market is pretty much stalled, "open houses" are not allowed, only essential businesses are open, etc. Many owners have decided to wait to sell until things open up again. We still peruse things, keeping our eyes peeled, we know what we want...
@Tara1014 жыл бұрын
how annoying that you were piped at the post. We wanted to move a few years ago and we were gazumped three days after our offer was accepted. We were really annoyed, that shouldn't happen these days.
@yvonnerahmes96184 жыл бұрын
@@Tara101 we certainly agree with you. It felt so odd to be told they accepted an out of state offer before we put ours in- at the moment we were on our way to the scheduled appt to do so! We had to pull over and sit to absorb it. Life goes on, we are hoping kismet was saving us for another place we will love more...

Yes I did think he was going too tiddle on the box. Lol. The flooring looks great and probably easier than mucking straw. As Apollo poops up the wall is the new stable going to have protection so it can be cleaned easier. I wore a pair of those thin protective gloves, when I went shopping this morning.

Tara and Rens, thank you for including this fascinating video on the installation of rubber flooring in Apollo's new stall. There is something exciting and - simultaneously - calming in watching the meticulous work of mature craftsmen. Their attention to detail throughout the process was a high recommendation for the quality of care they put into the installation. Great job! Excellently done. Well, of course, there is the qualifier in that since Ikie was providing constant oversight, all was certain to go well. I imagine that he will be first on the scene to help ensure your black beauty will be pleased with his new stable. We have these matts in our stalls, but what I found interesting in the video is that they glued them to the stall flooring and also caulked the edges all around. These matts are extremely heavy and they make special hand tools to move them around, but they are so nice for the horses to lay down and get back up. It's looking so nice Tara! I know I have to put extra shavings in a couple of the horses stalls for hock sores. Surprise being one of them. We bed our stalls wall to wall several inches thick with saw dust or shavings here, at our barn.
