Please understand i do not criticise 🙏. I research the weapons history and design. 1) I believe the tassel should be kept long and use to distract your opponent (face slap) or to capture a weapon or your opponent arm. It is correct to shorten them as a beginner but i have learned to use the tassels at the full length. Maybe i will add weight next to the ends of the tassels to make more powerful. 2) if you use plumbers tape to secure the end , the nut / fixing will be more secure (you can also place simple plastic bag over the bolt , screw the nut over this then tare away any extra you can see). 3) push the tassel through the metal loop on the end and twist around the end of the sword as you do ( pommel), if the tassel comes loose make a small loop to hold the sides together with tape or for pretty a little leather loop and a tiny amout if super glue . 4) if covering the handle, take the sword apart then cover handle with overlapping layers (not cut triangle, only overlap),(secure with little plastic tape) then push inside the top and bottom parts of the sword. This way you do see plastic tape on your pretty sword. I will try to make a video of my methods. I am a craftsman, jewellery maker, amateur sword maker .47yrs ☯️ training . Amitofou ☯️ 🙏

Great to hear your ways to put tassel on, I am sure there are many ways to do, I just show our way since this is the way my master teach me, we use this technique to make easy for us to train. Yanks again for shearing your way, I hope people can learn to make their sword training easier:)

The black tape is for not slip! The white athletic tape is to tie the black tape ! You can also use black color
