@emcustard4 жыл бұрын
This is a great tutorial! I've always noticed that I'm far more flexible when it comes to inward like this as opposed to outward like the splits or toe-touching. I've been streatching for my middle splits almost a month now, but I'm still about a foot off the ground. Then I try this and can get my knee tucked behind my shoulder with no pain on the first try! I can do both legs independently, but can't do both at the same time. Hopefully with practice, I'll have it in no time! On a side note, would you happen to know if there's a reason for better innate inward or outward flexibility?
@lunathenoodle4 жыл бұрын
Em Custard Thank you!! I am the opposite! Frontbending was very hard for me and backbending felt more natural originally. Frontbending is easier now though since backbends take such a long warmup. My splits are good but not great because I slack on my splits training a lot! I think a lot of that natural front or backbend flexibility has to do with posture. If you’re hunching or leaning forward a lot frontbending will be easier probably.

This was the motivation I needed today to get on the yoga mat! I've been struggling to get my feet behind my head for a while now and am definitely going to try these stretches. If I may ask, how do you schedule your training? As I recall, you mentioned that you cycle between backbends, cardio/strength and splits but here you mention doing this at least 3x per week so not sure how everything fits together. I struggle to find the optimal frequency. Anyway, thanks for sharing these tutorials. You are a joy to watch and I'm sure your channel will explode with subscribers before you know it.
@lunathenoodle4 жыл бұрын
Neil Rutledge Happy to help!! 😊 So my training schedule is something like this: Day 1: Backbending day (followed by a little bit of frontbending and abs that day) Day 2: Abs and more thorough frontbending Generally it’s important to balance backbending with abs and frontbending. So I can just switch back and forth between these two training days and be fine. But usually I’ll take a third day to do some standing splits and random things I want to work on. Other times I add the splits and random things on to one of the main training days. I really just listen to my body to make that decision. If I’m really tired I take a day off or just do something simple! I hope that makes sense because I’m not sure I explained it well! A lot of my training revolves around listening to my body by paying attention to what parts feel tight and what parts feel weaker.
@lunathenoodle4 жыл бұрын
Neil Rutledge Oh yeah! And it’s good to do 3 days a week of backbending and 3 days of frontbending/abs. But take days off when you feel you need them!
@neilr79354 жыл бұрын
@@lunathenoodle Thanks for clarifying. I've been doing a full body stretch 2-3 times per week but I'll try alternating and doing more frequent sessions.

If we're relatively inflexible, can this warmup still be used as a kind of "goal/workup to" routine, or should we use a separate routine for each of these moves to work up to instead?
@lunathenoodle4 жыл бұрын
You can do this just don’t try to push it all the way too fast! Take your time, get a subtle stretch. You should never be wincing in severe pain! If anything feels too painful just scale it back or do one of the easier ones again instead
@lunathenoodle4 жыл бұрын
A lot of frontbending is fairly safe to try slowly, but Backbending is more dangerous and shouldn’t be attempted by beginners. But use your own judgment.
