I remember a few years ago I wanted to learn how to do splits, but I noticed that my leg fat would roll and prevent me from going any lower into the splits. Great to see that other big girls can still do it

Love this video. I've been watching a lot of "how to do the splits when you can already do the splits and are like 19 years old and have all the time in the world" videos, but it's really inspirational to see another busy person about my weight having to put in a lot of work/effort and getting big payoffs.
@thighsthelimit2 жыл бұрын
Aw thank you!! I was definitely a lot bendier at 19 (how I miss those days lol), but I definitely believe you can be flexible at any age, with enough practice!
@jessicanorris36142 жыл бұрын
@@thighsthelimit yeah I'm 40 so I notice how much more slowly my flexibility improves now compared to at 18. but I think age also gives you better mental stamina somehow

Loved your video. I've been overweight all my life, and always thought splits were what the skinny girls do. I've never even tried. At the end of your video, I felt much more confident and inspired! Must say, though, my favorite part is the end where I see a cat that looks like mine right next to books I have on my shelf, too!

Hello, ohio checking in! I'm so inspired by your video. So I'm a bored single hard working momma. Taking a break from dating because it sucks, lol. So I thought why not work on my fitness goals. I've always wanted to be able to do a split. Just started stretching yesterday so I might take a while. Your video definitely encouraged me to keep going at my own pace. ❤️😁

This is awesome! I've been trying to think of a measurable non-weight related fitness goal (recovering from e.d.) and this is IT! I've always wanted to be able to do one, but not taken the steps to do it. I've always liked yoga, and am capable of a really deep pigeon. This video is what I needed to see today.

Yay, I'm glad it gave you a helpful idea! I actually just finished a "trying advanced yoga poses video" that'll be out in a few weeks when I'm done editing, but holy cow, it was hard. It definitely made me want to try yoga regularly!

Im going to give this a go. I started Karate 🥋 at the age of 38……..and being quite a chunky lad, it was the first time I really felt old. Seeing all the teenagers and kids being able to complete the exercises, and me not being able to kick the pads because they were to high 🥹🥹 I was like dammm. I need to sort myself out Hopefully these stretches help me out 🙏🏻😊

I feel ya on this. I'm a physical therapy student, and I'm older than most of my classmates as well as more out of shape. In some classes we are learning about and doing tests used on athletes, and I'm way behind my classmates in terms of being able to do them. It's never too late to start getting healthy and strong though. You can do it! 🎉

@thighsthelimit2 жыл бұрын
Good for you for working toward it! It's definitely not an overnight process. I pushed it too hard for a while and messed up my leg and that took at least a month to heal. Definitely take breaks as needed and check in with your doctor if you need to. Plateaus suck! I've been on one for a while, but it's because I tend to do really well until finals hit and then I stress eat. Just take it one day at a time. Good decisions eventually add up! You got this!

I have a question when I was trying to do the splits I had to stop because I started to feel a weakness the part where my leg connects to my hip area.
@thighsthelimit2 жыл бұрын
I'd love to say I knew immediately, but on that one, you're gonna need to check with your doctor or physical therapist. There's a lot of things that can go on in that area, and it's best to go where they can do a physical exam and see what's up. I hope they can get you some quick efficient answers though!

Hello! First of all congratulations on achieving your splits! 😁 How long did it took you? I've been doing my exercises every day ( I only missed one day each week) since October, but I can't do the split yet! I won't give up
@thighsthelimit Жыл бұрын
Thank you! If I remember correctly, I started stretching in October and finally got them in February. I was about 4 inches off the ground when starting. I will say that I likely got my split faster than the average time because I used to be able to do them in high school (10+ years ago). Just be patient with yourself and remember not to push into pain, you should just feel a good stretch. You got this!

I haven't made a follow up one at this point. No crazy changes. I got a little lax in my stretching while studying for the boards, so I'm not quite on the ground anymore, but I'm not too far off. Now that I'm finally done with school, I plan to get my splits game back on track. Would love to get my middle splits too someday! It's definitely an if you don't use it you lose it kinda thing.
