Actually, if the phone is disabled, updating will not fix this issue. Restoring, erasing all your info, is the only thing you can do.

It is odd that Apple changed the process, but I think most people release when the Apple logo disappears when you actually have to keep holding it. A little weird, but somewhat easy now that I am used to it.

Is recovery mode the same as safe mode? You should cover that in the video, and if it's not you should put that information in the video too. VERY confusing.

Recovery mode and dfu are the only modes. As far as I know safe mode doesn't exist with iOS (except for when the device is jailbroken.)
