Thanks for uploading this. I am thinking of buying the new 2020 1050 XT which I guess has similar arrangement. Nothing stops me though from pulling two wires with a switch from the hidden connector to a more accessible place like under the pillion seat or handlebars so I don't have to remove the riders seat everytime. Dealer mode just became easy peasy. I wonder why they haven't made already like that...

Cable is from a PC motherboard but any cable or paperclip will do . The seat is removed via the key. If you are referring to how you can bridge without turning the motor OFF in the cases that you must not turn it OFF then you either return home and use your spare or you have it with on you. Yay!!! Thank you John! Leaving the bike on and pulling the code works! Now it's onto attempting to fix this problem. I am just extremely happy i was able to pull the code now. C40 error which is the ISC Valve (Idle valve). Also, fyi, not sure why, but I've had everyone tell me the same thing you did about the ECU code should be stored on the bike, but it kept giving me a C00 code every time i switched the bike off and back on. Anyhow, just wanted others to see this in case they had the same. TY!

Code is stored in the ECU so it should be there. You can put the bike into dealer mode whether the engine is running or not. Just bridge the plug like in the video in either case: 1. You are riding & notice the FI code. Stop riding & with the engine still running bridge 2. Bike is still & engine is OFF. Bridge & push the RED switch down to close the circuit as if you are going to push the engine started button. You dont have to start the bike though, just gather the C-XX codes Let me know

Very good videos all of them and really detailed!!! One thing that it was good to mention on that video is also that the dash on the left of the error code is telling us if the TPS is properly installed, if its not in the center of the C (lower or higher) that means that you have to loosen the bolts of the TPS and turn it clockwise or the opposite till the dash go in the center again. Also I would like to ask you about the exhaust near the oil filter that I saw in your video "DL650 Vstrom L0 Oil & Oil Filter Change", is there a special way to clean it and make it so shiny? Check fuel pump volume. Search on any of the V-Strom forums for the procedure. Possibly weak pump or clogged filter causing fuel starvation at high throttle settings.

btw, just in case people like me experience this same problem. Those getting the C40 code may not actually be the ISC Valve. It ended up that I put on an aftermarket clutch and brake lever. and the switch that is supposed to hit the clutch (neutral switch?), was sliding out and not being depressed. This caused the C40 error (wtf?!). The fix for me was to drill a hole in the clutch so that the switch sat right without sliding out. good to go now! Thanks again John and Google Search of course! :)

Hi there, greatt video! I had an error C44 and i did all the tests according to the user's manual, result was a faulty heated oxygen sensor. I replaced the sensor with a new one but sill the error exists. is there any procedure to clear the memory? or maybe the new sensor is bad\wasn't the problem from the beginning? Many thanks!

Hi John, Great series of videos - really helpful! My DL650 AK9 has developed a prob, I wonder if you have any ideas. Bike starts & idles fine. Just riding around, the bike is also fine. However, under heavy acceleration (eg; overtaking), there is a serious loss of power. If I roll back the throttle - picks up OK. Bike now tops out at about 75mph. I now have changed the plugs (NGK Iridium) & air filter (standard Suzuki). 5199 miles. Error code C00, therefore ECU says OK. I'm stuck, ideas? Cheers!

I have a 2018 Vstrom 1000xt and now immediately after a 7500 mile maintenance schedule service I have the flashing F1 code alternating with odometer mileage readout. I am locating no such diagnostic port on the 2018. Would you know of a changed location for that model year?

Τα πιο καινουργια μοντελα εκτος απο abs εχουν επισης και 2 μπουζι σε καθε κυλινδρο για καλυτερη καυση. Τα τελευται μοντελα 2009 = Κ9, 2010 = L0 και 2011 = L1 ειναι και τα πιο απαλλαγμενα απο μικροπροβληματακια και παιδικες ασθενειες. Εσυ ποσα λεφτα διαθετεις και τι θελεις ακριβως?

my friend, I need your help! I have the 2005 model 650cm3 when I try to start the bike I feel like a click coming from one of the devices near the battery, I don't understand what it is that prevents the bike from starting, the battery is charged and new. trying to act on the control that there is to the clutch the bike started but probably that was not the problem because after turning it on and off several times the problem occurred again. Fulvio Taddei The clicking noise is the starter relay. The battery has enough power to actuate the relay but not enough to spin the starter motor. The starter motor might need service. I think there is dirt due to the wear of the brushes, I will shortly disassemble the starter and remove the dirt and check the wear of the brushes, if they are still good I think that with a clean I will have solved the problem!

Εξαρταται παντα απ την αιτια και την βλαβη. Καποιες φορες το προβλημα μπορει να ειναι προσωρινο, πχ σκουπιδακι στην αντλια που εφυγε η υγρασια σε σενσορα. Καποιες αλλες το προβλημα μπορει να ειναι πιο σοβαρο και μονιμο και αν και σου δειξει c00 προσωρινα, η ενδειξη της βλαβης θα ξαναεπιστρεψει αφου δεν εγινε αποκατασταση της.

@@DrVstrom Clutch switch problem. I bypass it and there was just too much dirt on the contacts, but lots of people having problem with starter switch which you losing headlights too.

Hi, thanks for the video, but I have a unclear issue. While driving the F1 indication appeared together with the red warning light intermittently blinking. I have put the bike in dealer mode as you described and went riding until the error would occur again. To my surprise the error code C45 appeared in the clock location but not together with the red warning light. C45 is not on your list. And when I stopped the bike, turned the engine off, the C45 error code disappeared and C00 was shown instead again. I did not see it again when continuing driving until home (about 40 km). What could this mean. Do I have to worry? Thanks for your help in advance

I have a question. May I start the v strom in dealer mode? That's because when I open the switch, doesn't shows me any error -C 00. But, when I start the bike, the RPM start good and then goes itself to 2.000 rpm back to 1300 rpm turn on red light and shows me FI error. Or, what can I do? Thanks

It might be several things. For instance the TPS (throttle position sensor) or your fuel pump. How many KM and what year is your bike? For the 1st reason you need to go to your dealer and get into a diagnostics tool cause you will only get an error code for the TPS when it is completely gone. Let me know of your update on this.

Αναλογα τι εχεις αλλαξει στο κοντερ (οχ το καντραν χρωμα ή λεντσκια) ή ακομα και στον τροχο νομιζω αριστερα το καλωδιο με την αφαιρεση τροχου μπορει να εγινε ζημια ή να φαγωθηκε.

Δεν είναι fuel injection. Ακολούθησε το βίντεο με την φυσά που που την συνδέεις στα σωστά σημεία κ θα σου βγάλει κωδικό βλάβης. Μετά το κοιτάμε από εκεί

The bike seems to run ok but those 3 lights stay on I put the bike in diagnostic mode and it showed C27

If your model is 1000, C27 refers to Ignition coil #2 (side). It can be many things but here goes a few. 1) Check the ignition system couplers for poor connections. 2) Faulty ignition switch OR Faulty side-stand relay OR Faulty engine stop switch OR Broken wire harness. 3)Faulty spark plug 4)Faulty ignition coil. You can try to swap one with the other & then check again for the FI code. if the code changes it means it is the ignition coil that is faulty. 5)Faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor OR dirt particles stuck on it & the rotor tip. Let me know how it goes

It depends on the error. Sometimes for instance it might be something very simple like humidity or some cable not connecting properly or the ignition key and it goes away by itself. Other times it is something you need to fix first for the error to go away. Usually you have to find the cause and fix it.

That’s a strange combination of error codes. Did you recently do any service ? Are there any other symptoms? Does the bike start, run properly? C13 refers to also the IAP sensor vacuum hose that may came out. There are 2 of those on the back of the air filter box on the corners

Doctor Vstrom no the moto is so weak, can get more than 5000hpm, but this problem a mechanic told me it’s in a fuel pump :/
