I love sponge filters because it all stays in the tank. Less risk of spills and leaks that way. Simple and effective. The only place I don’t use them is the patio tub, because the raccoons pull the airline to grab the sponges up against the net, and THEY CHEW ON THE SPONGE! Mischievous little critters.

Didn't see you mention it, just wanted to say careful with the air pump being below the tank without a check valve. If power is lost it will siphon out the water.

I have a thirty gallon tank with two fancy’s named pina and colada but lately I’ve seen what looks like tail rot in pina and a tiny in colada just some dark think looking on his tail - but pina had a red sore on top his head like right before his fin that spot his forehead and I can’t tell if colada is bullying him but pina has been in the corner looking a bit bloated and just so sick and colada keeps swimming around him and bumping into him I put anti biótics in their tank so I wasn’t sure if I should isolate him because his sore had like white on it but seems to be a bit better now I just don’t know why he keeps sitting in the corner !!! All my levels are good my temp is at 80 gh is at 180 and kh is at 180 ph is 7.5 and no3 and 2 are both zero
