Talk about patience! My little Lhasa/Yorkie named Molly that unfortunately past away last year. She had the patience of a saint! She go lay by mole hills and stay right there till that mole would come up the mound and she pounce grabbing that mole right out of the dirt mound. Sometimes she catch em during the day and other times at night. We have a pet door so our dogs can go outside whenever they like. She catch a mole at night, then bring it in the house to the bedroom to show me her catch. She let the mole go loose in my bedroom and that mole be trying to dig thru our carpet. LOL luckily I could praise my dog and then tell her to take it back outside and kill it and she would. I’d find it dead on the front porch in the morning. Best dang dog I’ve ever had or seen. She never ceased amazing me how smart she was and she do anything I asked of her. People always ask me how I teach her to do things? I never taught her anything, she just do it! Had her for 13 years till cancer got her and I finally had to put her to sleep as much as I hated to! One dog I’ll always miss, but the moles won’t miss her I’m sure! LOL

After setting traps all over my front yard with no luck, I came across your video. And went out into the yard and sure enough I saw some grass moving. I ran and got my shovel and pitchfork and tried to dig the little bugger out but somehow I missed him. No worries though, so now I know to keep the shovel close at hand. I put the grass and dirt back that I remove by shoveling, and let it sit for a few hours. I went back out there and sure enough the grass was moving at another spot. This time I used your method of having my foot poised right on the shovel, and I got the little son of a gun. Thanks a lot.

The very best solution for moles is pellatized lime. Moles feed on grub worms which live in highly acidic soil. The lime reduces acid levels which drives away the grubs so the food source goes away and the moles follow. I’ve done this for several years and it’s the cheapest and easiest way and it actually works.

Water seems to make them happy because it makes the worms move and they get free lunch, I'd just try poking around with a stick until you find a tunnel and use a Spade to make a small hole and drop some rat Miller in the hole and then very lightly cover the hole if you put a bucket over the hole it helps too if they see sunlight or a breach they will dig away from it. I had a mole come into my yard one time and I used a water hose and a shovel to get him. First I put the water hose into his hole for a much longer time than I expected to be necessary and when he finally came out I got him with a shovel.

What I find very effective is stepping on one spot during active times of the day. When I see it trying to clear the spot I stomp about a foot behind him so he is now trapped. With my trusty spade I drive down along that one foot section and leave it there.

It would be a ton of footage to show my most effective way of catching them. It is your way though. Wake up, get a cup of coffee, go and look for fresh runs and close them off, and sit and wait. They will come.

I live in Washington. I would see a fesh mound in the yard and I have tried waiting them out for ours and nothing happends. I would open up the mound until I find a tunnel. I pour gasoline down into the hole and wait a few minutes then pour more gasoline then light it. Other times I would try flooding them out with a hose and I've tryed attaching a hose to the tail pipe and smoke them out. I find the gasoline and tail pipe methods most affective so far.

thats a living creature u phycopath... if u were patient and used a trap it would be cheaper to release it elsewhere and better for the environment. but noooo, gotta be alpha and burn the harmless creature alive to show how strong i am. HA that will show the tiny creature living naturally!
@wayneheidlebaugh99153 жыл бұрын
Hay, I don't like doing this to these animals either but I have to protect my yard. Besides, with gasoline the fire only burns in the hole not in the tunnels. I just want to drive them away. Trapping them for relocation was the very first thing I tryed. No such luck. I don't like harming them but I can't let them destroy the yard.

I don't know how, when or why it happend but I found a dead mole just lying on the ground and no mound or hole neer by and I haven't seen new mounds since and it's been early a month since finding the body. with concerns about murder hornets on the hurison here in Washinton state, now is a good time to fill in the holes tunnels. Iwould hate for those murder hornets to move in there in the next year or so making us prisoners in our own home. they say murder hrnets prefer plages under ground so theres no telling where a merder hornet nest will be untill someone walks by on top of one then it's too late.

I've caught moles this way. Closer to the house I press down the tunnel. Then I wait for the tunnel to rise a bit revealing the location of the mole. I then put the water hose in the tunnel and turn the water on. They'll stick their little red snout right up and out of the tunnel. I have taken moles to a part of my yard where the ground is so hard I can't even get a pitch fork in it. I've put the mole down and that little monster will dig through that hard ground in no time. Amazing.
@edder71573 жыл бұрын
You might try giving them to organic farmers if you know any. If you’re gonna take the time to catch them alive anyway. Murder on a lawn, but some farmers love how they eat the bugs. Especially if they don’t have livestock to worry about. Saves them $$$ on pesticide.

Out of curiosity, what do you do with the mole after you catch him/her? Obviously, if you'd wanted to kill the little critter/s, you'd have set traps, or stomped him/her when you dug it up.

Last year we had a mole tunneling through our yard. My husband got a smoke bomb and put it in one of the tunnels. He ASSURED me it wouldn't kill the mole, just drive it off. Nope, when he set it off, you could see the mole moving under the grass, it came up on our driveway and fell over dead. I felt awful, that seemed so inhumane. We had another this year; I found your video and made him watch it. He captured it like you did and put it in a bucket and drove it to the woods to set it free! At least he told me he set it free. I am a bit skeptical. 🤣
