Dear Val, I´m a semi-retired Languages teacher, I´ve been follow you and your prectice which you, generously share with us, your fans. I started writing a book where I shared the funny time me and my collegues used to have with the students. I wanted to incentivate others to become a teacher, I was lucky and happy. When I finally organized the stories and found time to dedicate myself to put it into words... I realized that few people want to teach and that in just 2 decades school are so different. I stopped editing it. Ma

Thank you for your heartfelt message. I really think you should finish your book. Teaching might not be for everyone, but your story deserves to be shared. You never know who it might inspire or help - sometimes things happen in ways we don’t expect. God works in mysterious ways. Best of luck with it!

@@Teacher-Val, I bought both of your "Natural disasters" lessons, and I believe my students will love them. They're crystal clear, so there's no need to translate into Italian, which is our mother tongue. The pop quizzes are so engaging that whenever they answer right, they will gain a one-minute break, so adding them up, they could even get up to five minutes and have fun because they'll be challenged. I bought other lessons in the past since I've been following you for two years so far: Also, I like this way of teaching through stories and short reading, feasible, graded texts.

Like so many KZbin videos; on tips on classroom noise management, I was disappointed. Asking co-teachers, the administration, and the student's parents to be collaborative is living in a fantasy. Also, the teachers don't have time to create certificates and scorecards, call parents, and document behaviors. I need that time for lesson planning and other tasks to prepare for my lessons. For god's sake, here we are in 2024, and with all training, consults, and other teachers' tips, we still cannot help teachers with this serious issue. I have watched countless videos on this particular topic and it rarely applies to the reality of the teaching world. We have allowed it to be the norm that to be a good teacher you must be really good at applying classroom management theory. I became a teacher to teach NOT, babysit. Why is it always the good students that have to suffer from poor advice on this topic?
@Teacher-ValАй бұрын
I get that you’re frustrated, but I have to disagree. The strategies I share, like creating certificates, scoreboards, and behavior sheets, work for me and the teachers I work with. They might not fit your situation, and that’s okay - but that doesn’t make them useless. There’s no magic pill for classroom management, every teacher has to find what works for their classroom. I’m just sharing what works in mine. Different countries, cultures, schools, and students mean different challenges. Instead of tearing down what doesn’t work for you, why not share your solutions? Let’s help each other out. 😉
