How to quilt my Wildflower 9-Patch | Free quilting tutorial

Another Free-Motion Quilting tutorial to help you quilt your Wildflower 9-Patch! This design features nine, 9″Australian Wildflower blocks with geometric backdrops. Designs include Gum blossom, Waratah, Flannel Flower, Kangaroo Paw, Bottle Brush, Grevillea, Spider Orchid, Sturt’s Desert Pea and our National flower, Wattle.
In my sample I painted the 9″ blocks and added 2″ sashings creating a finished quilt 35″ square. You could enlarge each block and use the designs individually and combine with your favourite pieced blocks.

I was so glued to this free motion, I don't know if I miss this, so, question, do you color your fabric with some kind of shimmer pencils? or it's regular fabric?

I paint the design with Lumiere metallic and pearl paint which I sell on my website. It is designed for dark fabric and looks brilliant. You could use my designs as applique or any technique you wish.

After drying 48 hours it is permanent. I then iron the piece in preparation for quilting.

Always love watching! When you paint the fabric, do you use a fabric medium? Does painting affect the quilting (stiffening up the fabric)?

No medium required as I use and recommend fabric paint which is designed to be suitable and washable. The paint does stiffen the fabric a little but it is totally suitable and gives brilliant results.

They work in any colour. I find Black background gives them the highest impact.

I love watching your video, Helen. My only gripe KZbin have shortened the video. In other words they have cut out your work! Most disappointed. I want to be able to watch the video in full. It's not a full educational video when someone cuts half of it out. So very sad 15:51 😢❤❤
