Man, I was doing great, started carnivore on October 3, 2024, made it through Halloween, made it through Thanksgiving, made it through Christmas! I had lost 25’lbs. Then last week my 97 year-old grandma died. She had an amazing run, an amazing life, I was actually happy for her. But I made the trip from Minnesota to Iowa and while at my mom‘s there on the table was a warm just out of the oven batch of my grandma‘s famous chocolate chip cookies. I had to have one. I then had roughly 10 more. Then I had breakfast at the hotel we were staying at the next morning, crappy waffles, muffin, you name it. Then I ate fast food the whole way home. Then I proceeded to eat the absolute worst food you can imagine for the last couple days. Yesterday I drove around town to all my favorite bakeries and bought my favorite things, probably 10,000 cal worth of pure sugar. Gained 10 pounds in just a week by the way. Most of that of water, but it really is amazing. What inflammation does. So today is day one, again. It’s gonna suck. The cravings are going to be absolutely horrible. But I did it before and I can do it again.

I did same thing when I went out of town for a wedding. I had lost 50 lbs. I raided a vending machine with sugar and salty snacks, never got back to healthy, gained it all back plus 20 more lbs. I’m so disgusted, heavy & exhausted.

Hey, most of us had been there. I did carnivore while doing 75 Hard last year and got down to my high school weight! I felt GREAT. The 75 Hard ended on my actual birthday so I "treated myself" to a piece of birthday cake, which turned into two month of a carb ditch. I gained ALL of it back. I wasn't even going to try again because I figured "why bother" because "I don't have any willpower".. well, when I just found out that ANY sugar or sweetener will cause you to seek out more of the same and you'll Never be successful. Even once I found that out, I still grappled with the idea of Never having my favorite sweet again. I wasn't sure I wanted to commit to that. This time though, I joined Kerry's group because my own friends and family were ALL enablers and told me that I was crazy to consider the thought of going carnivore. My advice to you is make the decision to do it for just 30 days, get support and don't look back. After day 5 of being 100% carnivore, I completely lost ALL of my desire to eat anything sweet. You did it once, you can do it again!

@@JW-bh2ud addiction is a crazy thing. It took me roughly 14 years to quit smoking after I started when I was 18 and I think I was trying pretty much the entire time. As you mentioned, it’s also very hard when everyone around you is eating the typical American diet. Yesterday I heard my wife quietly say to my nine-year-old son, “don’t tell your dad I said this but it’s really nice that he’s eating normal food with us“. She’s very supportive of me trying to get healthy, but her and the kids are on the “normal” diet and suddenly I could eat what they were reading which I’m sure took some stress off of her/ was enjoyable from her perspective. So far so good today. One big plate of bacon and some coffee with locally sourced cream from a farm. Doing good so far. The hard part will likely come around 9 PM when it always comes because as a child we had ice cream every single night of my life and I always want something sweet right before bed.

Every time you crave sugar tell yourself "Sugar is a Poison"...re-program your brain to recognize poisonous food. If that does not work do pushups or jumping jacks or some type of exercise to distract you from the craving. This works wonders! Our brains just need to be re-trained. 😊 What people do not realize is sugar is a man made chemical process. Also, most of the sugars these day sin food is hidden in food with new chemical names that cause the body's glucose level to go up 2-3 times VS sugar. Ch Bobby Fav city is all abour learning to read lables also Ch Dr Berg has a vd on "Sugar" where he talks about all the chemcial sugars by name.

You can do this!!! I’ve been on carnivore for 2 yrs and have lost 101 lbs but the best part is the amazing mental clarity and focus, lack of brain fog and fatigue and moodiness, depression and anxiety. I’ve also reversed/cured T2 diabetes, high BP, fatty liver, migraines, acid reflux, arthritis in my knees that was so bad I could hardly walk, and soo much more. I’m also off all meds. I used to take a handful every day. I’m 62 1/2 yrs old and 6’3” and went from 300 lbs and morbidly obese to now 199 lbs which is my lowest weight since I was 19!!! I also went from a size 44 pants to now 34 and they are starting to get loose!! Please do as Kerry says… do a 30 day clean /strict carnivore “elimination” diet and I promise you that if you do this, you will look and feel so amazing that you’ll never want to go back to your old way of eating again!!!😊😊😊🥩🥩🥩🐮🐮🐮🐷🐷🐷🍖🍖🍗🍗🐓🦆👍👍💪💪

God bless your family!! ❤🥩✌🏼 I went carnivore for one month this past Sept 2024 and I remember feeling SO good!! In just one month. Then I slipped back into my sugar junk food habits with the holidays. I felt like CRUD AGAIN. I don't have problems with obesity but I have ALWAYS had problems with my mental health, chronic depression, sleep issues, fatigue, terrible mood swings with my monthly cycle, brain fog, and my vision is blurry at times. I'm back now on day 6 of the carnivore diet. Now that I've had a glimpse of what healthy feels like I can't go backwards again.

That is so true! Until I admited and accepted that I'm a suger addict and that sugar is a hard core drug I wasn't able to stick with my diet or anything. I used the alcohol addiction work books, free online coaching sessions etc to quit and stay away from any and all sugar sources. Now, I feel liberated. I feel like I have control over my life and will. I'm able to stick with my carnivore diet now. I don't even consume berries or coffee. Just meat, water and salt. I began to heal finally. After struggling for almost 5-6 year watching others getting healthy, getting fit finally I'm on the same path. Please ACCEPT THAT YOU ARE A SUGAR ADDICT AND THAT SUGAR IS A DRUG. Good Luck ❤

I had gone 6 months without sugar. I ended up having some pie and cookies at Christmas and for the first time in as long as I can remember, there was no emotional connection to the sugar consumption. The next day I went straight back to strict carnivore like I never skipped a beat. I apparently have overcome the addiction but I'm sure if I were to make it a regular thing I could quickly become addicted again. Since I'm enjoying all the benefits of this carnivore way of eating, I'll probably reserve my next sugar encounter for next Christmas, assuming I even feel like it then.

Great video Kerry! Moderation is NOT the answer for most...this often becomes a recipe for failure, especially for individuals with a history of sugar addiction or sensitivity. This is largely due to the addictive properties of sugar, which trigger the brain’s reward system and release dopamine, much like other addictive substances. For those sensitive to sugar, even small amounts can reignite cravings, making it difficult to stop once the cycle starts. Consuming sugar, even in moderation, also causes blood sugar spikes followed by crashes, leading to increased hunger and cravings, which can undermine efforts to maintain control. Psychologically, moderation requires constant decision-making and self-control, which can be exhausting over time. For many, it’s easier to avoid sugar entirely than to navigate the challenge of figuring out when and how much is acceptable. Additionally, having "just a little" sugar can open the floodgates for some individuals, leading to binges, which makes abstinence a more sustainable and manageable approach. The hyper-palatable nature of sugary, processed foods compounds the issue, as they are designed to override natural satiety signals, making it difficult to stick to small portions. Sugar's pervasive presence in modern foods and social settings also creates constant exposure to temptation, further complicating efforts to moderate intake. For these reasons, abstinence often proves more effective. Avoiding sugar entirely eliminates cravings, restores control, and allows the body to adapt, with many people finding that their taste preferences shift over time.

Kerry, I needed this video so much. I have been keto for over 4 years. Moving from dirty keto - carnivore the last year. A bit all over the place, but I have never gone back to rhe SAD diet, thank goodness. This is my fav video of yours. Giving us useful steps to take. Thank you! I never thought I had a sweet tooth as I would always reach for savoury food. But now that I have removed all the chips and that kind of junk, I have a sweet tooth that I constantly fight against. Annoying. I need to tackle this. Thanks for the support, my friend!! Thanks for all you do! God bless you and your lovely family!

Things believed to be ‘healthy’ carbs can be a problem for those of us with significant sugar addiction. People believe if it is home cooked, it is healthier. Not true. Potatoes, rice, honey, maple syrup, home made bread etc., ALL are as unhealthy as sugary treats. The body doesn’t differentiate between those. It’s the change in mindset that is needed to help with long term success. I remember that even if nobody knows if I ‘cheated’ but my body and brain will know. If you fall, get up and go right back to the path you know will keep you healthy----> 🥩🥚 The longer without the cheats, the easier it is to follow through.

THIS hits home. I wasnt able to succeed until I stopped telling myself I will have a cheat day when I reach a certain goal. I did it a couple times and then totally fell off the wagon. I also realized cheese and dairy (besides butter) 100% triggers my cravings. Thankfully I know strict Carnivore takes away those cravings and head noise, so now I am actually content and happy with this being a lifestyle change.

I've been Carnivore for 9 months and I finally quit coffee, which is something I had been trying to do for DECADES: sugar, alcohol, carbs and coffee cause insulin resistance, with all the metabolic problems that come with it. Carnivore WORKS! I just had braised beef for supper, by far my favorite dish even if it isn't the healthiest. It had lots of fat, I put lots of salt on it and now I'm going to go take a nap and digest all those incredible nutrients... Not only is Carnivore healthy: IT TASTES AMAZING!

my favorite form of sugar is Coca Cola! Always loved it and I can do without all other sugar but it. I once had a boss who called me a "coke junkie" because of Coca Cola. I didnt really understand its just coke right 🤷‍♂ WRONG. I am the sugar addict you talk about. My highest weight was 655lbs. Now most days I stay about 510. I am working on carnivore diet again, lost 12lbs in the first 6 days, joints feeling better, gut has less problems. I believe you. The High Fructose Corn Syrup in soft drinks, are inflammatory. They use that instead of cane sugar because it can be made cheaper for them in the factory. More profit for them. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ The liver is really hard hit from the Fructose, from any form of fructose. Let me add something this means no ketchup no mustard no pickles no sugar free gum no flavored electrolytes, no mio, all things i did before myself. if you really want to get over cravings you must eliminate all of it. I've been following tons of carnivores for years and ones who's are most successful besides the famous doctors are ferringo, old man carnivore, Kerry, Bill from Alaska and they all have one thing in common, they never ever ever talk about any of the above things I mentioned as they are 100% strict. It's not easy for sure but it is simple as you control this entire thing. Simply just put meat into your mouth nothing else along with water and salt nothing else with flavors.

Believe me, I feel like I have had it all in my body within this past 12 years . But one day I come across Dr Kan Barry, that was the time when the table began to turn around. I am so thankful to bump into carnival diet and to you guys I hope you will continue spreading the word your videos are amazing. I started the Carnivore Diet right around the same time as Kerry. I lost 64 pounds in the first 4 months without trying. Easiest diet ever! But then on my 50th Birthday I made the mistake of deciding to have cake and ice cream. That was when I realized HOW MUCH of a Sugar Addict that I am. I relapsed hard, and I started eating 1 pint of BEN & JERRY’S Bananas Foster Ice Cream every day. Then I would have a pint for breakfast, and a pint before bed. I still ate a mostly Carnivore Diet and to my surprise I only regained 8 pounds over the next 4 months. Then I re-committed to cutting out all sugars and sweets for December, and I lost 10 pounds during Christmas!! Who does that!? Losing weight over Christmas? CARNIVORE’S, that’s who. I have lost 150 pounds on the Carnivore Diet. At my heaviest I weighed 528 pounds. I got down to 383 pounds. Before I started the Carnivore Diet, I could barely walk 2 blocks, and then I would need to stop and rest. On October 5, 2024 I participated in a 12 Hour Walk Challenge. I was asked 49.5 kms | 30 miles. I felt amazing, but super sore, and I could barely walk all the next day. But JUNKIE MIKE showed up and tricked me into rewarding myself by having some Poutine & Pizza. (I’m Canadian and Poutine is a big up here.) That led to me snacking on potato chips, pizza, ice cream, pop, and chocolate bars a few times per week over the past 3 months. I re-gained 20 pounds. I set some New Year’s Resolutions | Goals and I re-committed to doing the Carnivore Diet fully once more. I did my second 12 Hour Walk on Monday January 6th, but I was only able to walk 44.5 kms because the inflammation in my feet, knees, and legs w was so painful I could barely stand, let alone walk by the end. I have been pure Carnivore for the past week, and I completed my third 12 Hour Walk Challenge yesterday. I walked 42.8 kms because I ended up taking more breaks than last week. Partly because it was a lot colder than last weeks 12 Hour Walk, but also because of multiple trips to the bathroom for #2. The downside of no longer having a gallbladder, on a high fat Carnivore Diet. I am planning on doing many more 12 Hour Walks this year, and I look forward to losing the next 150 pounds and getting down to my target weight of 250 pounds. This video…about HOW TO BREAK my addiction is greatly needed. I look forward to trying out the Daily Journalling approach. I have lost 7.8 pounds in the past week on a pure Carnivore Diet, so I know losing the 20 pounds that I re-gained will be gone in no time.

People making holidays and celebrations into a food binge fest, started with marketing and commercials associating those addictive foods with happiness. For you, it sounds like those types of days are a trigger. Since you now know this, create ways to change this… like go out and eat a quality steak instead. Ask for no sides. You will enjoy the celebration, but feel victorious afterwards. If I’m with family I either bring my own foods, or eat before the visit, or fast during the visit just sipping water to keep my hands busy. Find your ‘tricks’ that work for you to not get sucked into the holiday vortex of carbs/sugars. Learn which specific foods are your own triggers, avoid places that have those. Change your driving route to avoid driving past those places. Friends who are like sirens calling you to eat trigger foods, aren’t friends. If they don’t respect your food boundaries, and aren’t supportive, aren’t true friends. That’s like putting an alcoholic drink under the nose of a recovering alcoholic.

Same here...I went back Monster drinks with the sugar alcohol's for awhile. I didn't even like it after not having them for 2 weeks, but kept drinking them. If there is any "artificial sweetener" to use, I believe it to be 100% organic Stevia Powder. It's one ingredient. It doesn't really taste like sugar to me, so it doesn't trigger sugar cravings for me like normal sugar foods would. Plus, it takes a very, very small amount to get that lightly sweetened flavor. I use it in my coffee with heavy cream. My results have not suffered. i am at the 3-month mark, and went from 220 to 180 pounds, 40 lb weight loss in 3-months.

I have been on keto-vore for about a year.( couldn't let go of fruits and veg.) Great results BUT still addicted to sugar and junk food. I now realize that as soon as I start eating fructose ( fruits) it leads to eating junk food. I don't know why but it does and I get very sick. Always have "snacks" on hand ( boiled eggs, cooked bacon strips, etc) for when those cravings hit you at the most inconvenient times.

Gertrude… sounds like you, and also me and Kerry, are a Hard Core Sugar & Carb addict. Kerry and I both tried and failed many time on keto but the redo it didn’t work and we yo-yo’d up and down in weight is that keto allows all kinds of sweet tasting foods like fruit, sweet potato’s, dark chocolate, artificial sweeteners, keto cookies, cakes, muffins and treats, etc. It’s only when you do 30-60 days of clean carnivore that you will lose that craving for sugar and carbs and achieve the result you so desire and long for. Good luck!😊

I dont understand why you would say the cravings go away, I've been carnivore for 593 days myself, and I still get cravings for things I used to enjoy, like cupcakes or ice cream. I can easily ignore them now, as well as easily say no to sweets in general, but the cravings are still there. I do not substitute with carnivore friendly things like Dr. Kiltz ice cream either, I gave all that up for a reason.

@Buckdaddys Күн бұрын
I eat more than enough fat, I actually need to cut back on the fat, I do better healthwise on lower fat carnivores. I've put 20 lbs of body fat back on after achieving my goal weight and muscle structure because im eating to mich fat. My goal weight was still 20 pounds over what my "ideal" weight for my height. No artificial sweetners, only meat, eggs, salt, coffee, and water every day, but the wanting for the sugar is there still, as I said easily ignored but there none the less.😢

They do go away. But maybe it should be worded differently or with more context...?? Context being, we have a lot of stress in our lives. How do we cope? Some turn to sugar because sugar is comforting. I will say that every now and then, I do get a craving for something sweet. But it's easily pushed aside with me remembering it's most likely from being stressed in the moment. I think our bodies crave sweet under stress... no matter how well we're doing on our diet/lifestyle. That would be the reason for me to crave sweet. I'm not stressed 24/7 like some are, though. Constant craving could be due to elevated cortisol from too much stress. I can always consider any cravings I have as stress-related, and not that I've done something wrong with my diet.
@Buckdaddys

@gaiagoddess8009 Sure, I could see that being feasible. 593 days carnivore and the worst thing about this lifestyle is: nobody talking about has all the answers to every question. And the same answer is not the correct one everytime.

5+ years carnivore here. At the three year mark I started to increasingly feel stressed, got these electric shocks or what felt like hot energy coming up from within and would come out my neck and shoulders and face.......red flushing on the face.....skin irritation on the neck and face......itching of the skin......put up with it for over a year until it progressed to intolerable and I started to put on weight again that was not expected at all. I went to have some blood tests and found stress hormones elevated, epinephrine and cortisol were elevated, electrolytes low, insulin was also high, fasting glucose was way low........my GP was really not much help. Had no idea what to do other than to stop carnivore all together. So I uploaded my bloods to a carnivore doctor I found online and he explained to me: the prolonged period without any dietary sugars was causing a state of stress. The body was struggling to make its own. Gluconeogenesis is an enzymatic process that we have down regulated over many many generations and takes a long time to activate again after not being needed from birth for most of us, especially if bottle fed from birth on baby formula that is mostly sugars and has an imbalanced nutrient profile and we move on to carb meals like breads, flours and seeds. the body activates glucocorticoids in times of stress to compensate for the loss of energy and to put down the release of that sort of energy it releases insulin to remove the glucocorticoids from the glucose receptor. The body will usually instruct the brain to eat, usually something sweet to have energy again but a high fat meal would also be of benefit if fat adapted. I was not eating enough fat. When you remove sugar and carbs and starches from the diet there must be a converse increase in the amount of saturated fat eaten to compensate. I was not eating enough alternate energy. Proteins alone do not make a lasting energy source on their own. Protein powders are not a good source of nutrition as they are mostly fat free, devoid of fats as protein powders are a waste product created from homogenisation. A protein shake introduces too much macro nutrient protein without the expected fat that protein would come with in a normal meat meal. Fat is great at slowing down the Glycemic rise that high protein and a carb meal will cause. So I increased the amount of saturated fat per meal. adding more butter and getting blocks of beef fat from the butcher to add to my meals which stopped the hot flushes I was getting. The blood tests also indicated that my cortisol levels were back to normal and I was not burning through electrolytes any longer. If you have given up sugars, carbs, fibers and starches all together pay special attention to the consumption of the other energy source FAT. Complications will eventually set in, how long that takes is an individual metabolic response that cannot be calculated without the experience of a good doctor and blood tests. Hope this helps somebody!

Very informative thank you. Fat is our friend! I am surprised it took 3 years before realizing you were not eating enough fat. You must have gotten super lean and severely depleted your fat stores, as at 3 years, you were completely immersed in fat adaptation.

@@bwink23 hi there, when i started carnivore I was fat. Around 200kg fat. So I had reserves, a lot of reserves but over that 3 years or so I lost all that weight and that is when my fat reserves fell too much, I was lean with a six pack in my 50's but I started having issues. I was lean and about 80kg at 185cm tall, but since increasing my fat over the last 6 months have put on another 10kg which is about the weight I was in my teens. Having a visible six pack was ok until my body said it wasn't! My doc tells me slowly over time once my body gets over the shock of losing all that reserve fat and metabolic comfort my weight may come back down and be six pack visible again.......but it may not too. Either way, I learnt something about driving body fat low and how my body reacts. 👍

@ look up RACTOPAMINE. It is a very powerful glucocorticoid nutrient partitioning steroid used in pig farming in the USA, Aust NZ but banned in Europe and China. I haven't eaten pork products for years so make my own lamb and beef jerky instead and have a lamb fat jerky that is to die for!

I’m not diabetic, but cutting out sugar completely does have me feeling kinda funny after a bit. I may be pre-diabetic since my blood sugar is in the 90’s when I wake up.

May is the last time I had processed sugar. I only get any sugar from food. And not more than two tablespoons of berries a day. Keto has been great.

If you take all the products with sugar from the grocery store, you'd have a butcher shop! haha
