I love the main message here, thank you. I’m a PT, lifetime interest in wellness and helping patients. Also a big supporter of the science-based approach in medicine, for me, I find “addiction” and “detox” um… well, you get it: problematic. All the best with the channel. Keep the science good and the message authentic!

@@brightwithspiritto me it's a huge difference. I feel completely different but this you realise only after you quit, it's a banch of small things. It wasn't easy to quit, but try once 30 day without sugar. It will be not easy, especially first week, but I promise that if you manage this magical 30 days you see and feel difference in your attitude and even on your scale. Answering your question about my diet, I eat normal except I try to keep low carb diet, I have decreased my portions, I try to eat whole foods, and stop snacking and if so, let it be some fruit. I allow my self to eat something sweet times to time (I will say once a week) but this is always something prepared by my self, home made apple pie etc. I have also stop to drink sugar, no coffee or tea with sugar, no soda. I had some episodes that I took chocolate after months without sugar and I felt really bad after. Now it has been already almost 6 months with very low sugar consumption and I will only say that my body doesn't crave for it anymore. To me it was pure addiction in my case.

@@brightwithspirit to me it really is different, my moods are stable, for like, the first time in my life 😂. I tried keto diet a few years ago, and omg I got so sick that I gave up after 2,5 days. That's when I realized how hooked I was. So then I started cutting out high sugary food like cakes and ice cream and all the obvious. Then I cut out anything with white flour, potatoes and replaced it with brown stuff. I ate way more pulses like lentils , chickpeas, beans.. it took a while but eventually it became natural for me and I went from having regular almost daily cravings to hardly ever crave sugary stuff. I had no trouble eating 3 or 4 huge slices of cakes and now content with half a slice. Biting into an apple is like biting in a candy now, literally lol. It feels so sweet. I tried the keto diet again, and loved it, it was so easy. Nothing like the experience I went through when I was so hooked on sugar. And I honestly was super super dependent on sweet.

@@sunbeam9222 Thank you for sharing! I have a problem with sugary drinks, cokes, etc. What has been helpful for me is to chew gum and drink very high quality water instead of reaching for the drinks. I hope to have the renewed outlook on life soon too!!

@@brightwithspirit oh yes, right. People would always have some cans in the fridge for me since I was not ashamed to claim that " I don't drink water" and that was true 🤦🤦 I had actually forgotten about this. I hated water . Drank coke light every single day. Always had to have fizzy drink. Today my treat is having lemon juice ( no sugar) in it, I drink loads of water. It's no effort anymore. This craving has totally gone also. IT really can be done. And then you look at the cans most of the time and go eww. I will drink it maybe twice a year and that's it. Chewing gum is good also, anything that works haha. All the best!

super Thumb's Up. Wife and I are both trying to reduce our recent "fatty liver" issue and slim our guts in what is generally an otherwise pretty healthy lifestyle situation. I identified sugar only recently as the main culprit, and was amazed at just how quickly it adds up and also how small our liver's tolerance is for daily sugar intake. And cut back on my coffee as well...2 cubes to only 1, but not sure I am going to get below that. we'll see.

That's what I did however , years of restricting lead me to heavy binges . So now I've lost all the weight , got in shape , quit smoking , alcohol, etc . My entire lifestyle overhauled . So these days I find that when I just allow it , knock it off the golden pedestal, the less I care about it . 90% of my diet is healthy whole low carb food .

Going to give you reality. First hand experience. The ONLY way you will kick sugar is a 100% commitment to change your eating habits! There is zero chance otherwise. It's more than just cutting sugar! No bread! No process food! No soda, diet or otherwise. EMPTY the house of ALL junk food, snacks, flavoring, toppings, ice creams, sweets, ALL OF IT MUST GO! For me? The only way this was happening was via Keto diet. You need to commit to a lifestyle of WHOLE FOODS! Your sweets will be the right fruits!. Your snacks? Maybe some nuts, a salad, olives, pickles. The special treat? 90% cocoa dark chocolate. You need to stop using sugar for energy. Took me only two days to get over the worse of it. My biggest cheat was coffee with Splenda! (there are better cheats). It gave me my routine of Coffee, breakfast. Ditch the bread, the potatoes, but kept the eggs, bacon, and coffee. Trick my mind into thinking things were as usual. Grabbed plate full of healthy snacks, but now, snacks are olives, a nice salad with only red wine vinegar and olive oil. NO ICE CREAM. No cheating! It's a MASSIVE change. Over time, you'll learn that there's many alternatives to store bought processed good foods. EVEN ICE CREAM made with heavy cream will be your future treat! BUT, it will actually be processed they way nature intended! Go for it! Can't tell you how proud I am of ditching sugar!

I agree with almost all that you have noted. For me I had gained 70 lbs and with limited to wearing sweat pants and oversized shirts. Also health issues. Seeing the occasional photo of my obese self also motivated me. So one day I went cold turkey on all the foods that got me to where I was. Took two weeks to break the habit. Started walking about the same time. Short leisurely walk over time became a brisk walk of 3 to 4 miles 4 to 5 times a week. Also listened to upbeat podcasts that distracted my mind from the boring part of walking for 45 to 60 minutes (10 to 20 minutes in the beginning). And if the podcast was really good, I would walk till it was over. Now 200 lbs instead of 270 my life is reborn. From size 46 to 38, my clothing is loose for all the right reasons and I feel 10 years younger. Ironically, my friends chided me as I lost weight. They said I was getting to thin. How crazy is that!

I have been trying to be on a clean eating diet. I am getting ready to get my gallbladder out. I am on a low fat diet for that which was a hard start. But it's in a way helped my sugar cravings since I've been focusing on lowering my fat diet. I haven't had much of an appetite since finding out about my surgery. But I'm hoping to continue a low fat low sugar diet.

Yeah i agree - this video makes it sound simple/ easy but it can be quite a process! Its a true addiction - made extra tough because it is everywhere and socially sanctioned, even weird to others if you dont eat sugar. The strategies she mentions are part of some helpful things to implement but its just a barely touching the surface of the process - you may want to dig deeper w learning about it, preparing and setting up a plan and support network like food addicts anonymous for instance - they eliminate sugar and flour and you can get a sponser and attend meetings. It is a serious addiction! Get support!

Good grief, you have no clue what real sugar addiction looks like. This 10 day plan is fine for someone who has healthy eating habits from childhood, but this plan is ridiculous for someone like me. Not trying to be rude, just realistic that this plan will not help 99% of us true sugar addicts.

Don’t sell yourself short. It took me 2 weeks to kick the habit of sugar and unhealthy eating. I also came from a family of eaters. I self medicated myself with food all of my life. Whenever I got upset, I would eat something. Ironically, having been obese for most of my life, when I started loosing weight some of my friends would chide me and say I was getting too thin. I went from 270 lbs to 200 over an 18 month period. I was resolved to make my health my number one priority.

@@gregohare2406 I've done a sugar detox for 21 days and the cravings were no better on 21 than on Day 1. I was religious about not consuming any sugar, no sweetener of any kind, nothing processed, no dairy, no gluten, not even any coffee. The only thing that I ate was meat, chicken, non starch veg, plain nuts, eggs and olive and avocado oil. The only questionable thing I ate was less than half cup berries each day. What was I doing wrong? Any advice?
