Your vids are so well done and helpful. For years I have been shimming by adding a 0.2mm shim and checking, one at a time (and usually like 5 or more for some reason), till I hit that point of zero play, then replacing a 0.2mm with a 0.1mm and checking again, sometimes needing to also remove the 0.1mm to reach the smallest non-zero amount of play. So mathematically speaking, I'm always 0-0.1mm of play. My clutch bearings last about 0.25 gallon to 1 gallon. Wondering if that's a sign that, while better than no play, it's still not enough play. Perhaps I should instead try aiming for the 0.1mm-0.2mm spec you listed in the description.

Hey Ryan this is really excellent what your doing, I have set my DNX8 up so well now, its so fast with your older alpha worlds engine and I've put the atom 2106 pipe on it, identical to your beta 2106, really excellent now, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✌️

Nice video, I wish I knew more about tuning. Did you do a video on that?
@RyanLutz
@RyanLutz 5 жыл бұрын
I have an old Alpha video that was done trying to demonstrate tuning. It’s such a hard thing to video with the noise differences and there are just so many variables it’s really a trial and error thing. Also different brands tune different too. I’ll still try to do something at some point this year.

@@RyanLutz what you could do, is make the video and then narrate over top the video that way you keep the engine noise to learn what your listening for. So basically you are doing no talking then do the voice stuff later.

Great explanatory. Maybe you can explain more about putting extra 3x5 shims at the end screw. I still don't get it how or why that is needed even if lets say shimmed everything correctly. Is there something about putting a load on the bearings?
@RyanLutz
@RyanLutz 3 жыл бұрын
It’s needed only if your clutch setup when put together has the outer bearing hanging off the end of the crankshaft without any shims being used. If you would find this to be the case then you can add either a ‘top hat style’ washer that takes up some of that gap or the 3x5 shims. Either thing helping to basically make the crankshaft longer.

Do you crank the screw on the flywheel or just a snug fit

Great video Ryan. Quick question. How do you know when to replace the shoes?
@RyanLutz
@RyanLutz 5 жыл бұрын
Adam Camacho kind of Depends on the clutch. Sometimes it’s when the spring would be hitting the bell. Other times it’s just the shoes have gotten to small and you can feel a performance difference. It’s to difficult to give a blanket statement.
