I enjoyed every minute of this! I would love to know more about your way of cornering and braking while going through corners. Saw your video on GCN, and can't wait for you to share more insights and tips how to be more efficient, how to build the confidence to take corners with speed, how you use the brakes... I would love an extended version of that GCN vid! Also some ideas on how to work on general bike handling technique, and again turning would be super helpful!! Seems like you guys have a great way of working on that! I work in an old school bike shop in Belgium, where we get people from all over the world. I've had a whole bunch of English people over for the Six Days in Ghent, last week, and they were all raving about how Hernehill Velodrome is the Mekka for growing up as a skilled cyclist (with skill sessions and the like...). Seems like we're missing out. When not riding kermesses as a youngster, we don't really have a club culture where you can learn and practice this stuff. As a fixie kid, I've always been a fan of your style of riding fixed gear crits, pretty sweet to get some insight in the tactics! Cheers, Stijn

dude this was awesome to see a longer format vid of your crit racing and analysis because the ones you post to insta are amazing. I'm from the USA so socks or no socks we need more guys pushing the bike racing scene like you in the USA man. 2 questions tho... how to do build for fitness for crit racing in off season and leading into race season and would you ever come to the US to race what races we have?
@alecpedalerbriggs98762 жыл бұрын
Yo Christian, thanks for the kind words man. In off season it’s mostly just riding pretty chill with mates and sprinting for town signs for a laugh. Don’t ride in zone 3/4 the whole time as you’ll just nail yourself. Once it gets a few months before the crit season like early spring, you can start to do some more intervals and intense sessions that allow you to get used to spiking your heart rate and brining it back down more efficiently. Yeah I’ve raced a bit in the US, it’s very different to our crits, but they’re fun for sure!

Really inspiring! I'm just off the back of my first season of crit racing and buzzing for next season having got my points to go up to Cat 3. One quick question: It looks like you tend to sit way back off the wheel - is that just the fish eye lens or do you not tend to ride too close to the guy infront?
@alecpedalerbriggs98762 жыл бұрын
Hey man, thanks for watching! Going into the corners I am sitting quite far off it, that’s so I can just use my extra corner speed and don’t have to brake or pedal as hard in and out of the corners. On the straights, I will be sitting very close to the wheel and I expect the 360° camera lens makes it look a little further than it really is.
@boschbosch12 жыл бұрын
@@alecpedalerbriggs9876 thanks for responding - got it. Yea, I have found I have to dab the brakes at times, but I’m always afraid to fall too far back and then not be able to get back on to the group. Hoping as my fitness improves I’ll have more confidence to move around like you do.
