That’s the same thing that happened to me lol. I tried cleaning it and even accidentally took out the bobbin holder and had to watch a whole separate vid to figure out how to put it back in (even though this wasn’t the first time that happened lol) anyway after putting everything back in my machine I realized it was the teeth that was the problem and then watched this vid to come and find out I pushed the switch the other day not knowing what it was and didn’t put it back without realizing. I’m so happy i found this video and was able to fix it lol😂😂

I know I am super late to this channel but I can't thank you enough. I bought this amazing Brother SQ9385 from Facebook Market place. I sew all the time for my son that is in a wheelchair. OMG I fixed my problem , two days trying to fix, clean and nothing. I move that button thinking it was locking the sewing setting, since I use the embroidery more, I forgot simple steps n never noticed that button. Thank you soooooo much. Hi Jesslyn, unfortunately it sounds like you need to have a technician look at your machine. Your feed dogs do not drop on that machine, for you to do freemotion you would use the darning plate which covers the feed dogs.

I have a Brother ST371HD. I have watched this video, moved the switch back and forth, and it looks like my feed dogs are going up, but my fabric still will not feed through the machine. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Do you have any other things to check to make my feed dogs move the fabric?

Hi, have you first put the correct presser foot on for regular sewing and chosen the standard straight stitch? If so check that the stitch length is not set to zero. ( it's unlikely to be) Provided you have set the switch to the correct position, the feed dogs should engage as soon as you start stitching. If they don't, which is very rare, you may need to have the machine checked.

I have a Brother LS-2125 and I cannot find the switch to raise and lower the feed dogs. My fabric won’t advance if it is thicker due to pleats ( trying to make face masks)

Rebecca Buck there is no need to lower the feed dogs when straight stitching. When sewing through layers I find it best to start with a new needle (denim or topstitch needle) and use a walking foot. This foot will feed the top and bottom layers through evenly which may assist with the issue you are experiencing when creating your masks. www.echidnasewing.com.au/f034-walking-foot-5mm-models

After moving the the lever to the up position the feed dogs stay down. I tried turning the hand wheel counter clockwise one revolution and even making a couple stitches to see if it would teenage but no luck

@debbierankins2540 Your machine uses a Darning Plate instead of dropping the feed dogs. If you look in your manual it will give you the code for the part you need. It did come with your machine so also check your accessories.

Oh my gosh. I bought singer sewing machine and it cost me $1000. The dog feed was low and I couldn't figure out how to raise it up. I have been trying to sew for 1 week and it's all messed up. I was looking at the other videos but it doesn't help me at all. Thank you for your video my machine works as it should be. It really gives me a big smile today.

Hi Ana - it is probably best to call us if you can. There is no way to regulate the teeth unless there is an issue with the machine. If your fabric is sliding you may need to use a stabilizer to help or a walking foot to feed the fabric. You can call us in Australia on 1800 000 360.

Just be careful as you can over oil. It is the tiniest of drops that you need and you need to be careful where you place the oil.

My feed dogs are up & I commonly have issues with the fabric not being fed (moving) especially when beginning a seam or when the fabric has a fold. Very frustrating, I have to always pull the fabric &/or use an awl to push it through. Even tried other specialty feet. (??) Everyone here on videos are able to just start sewing right at the edge of the fabric while I have to begin an inch in, reverse & go back. Any help is appreciated. Using a computerized Viking Emerald 183. All other sewing is perfect.

My older kenmore 1040 does this with feed dogs, but the switch to let the dogs down will not work. I’ve looked at it taken it apart and it’s impossible to make it move, I did here u say it’s hard to move but geez lol. I will put more elbow grease behind it. It’s from 1960, I imagine it can take it.

Which Janome do you have Louise? Have you checked in your manual to see where your feed-dogs selection switch is? Some machines do not have this selection and if you don't have it, you will have to use a darning plate instead.

When you switch back, you do need to turn the handwheel on the side of the machine one full turn. If they still do not raise, you will need to take your machine in to be looked at by a technician.

Why are my feed dogs moving in the opposite direction? They are lifting at the back then moving forward then dropping then lifting at the back??? I've tried pressuring the reverse stitch button but that didn't fix it 🤔🤔🤔😡🤬 really losing the Will and ❤ to sew atm, I don't have a button at the back of my machine to lift the feed dog, as I also dont think they are at their highest point, which I've tried to adjust with the loving help of my partner, he said the screws were loose so we tightened them, but the feet are still not coming up high enough to feed fabric thru the machine plus feeding in wrong direction, All I want to do is hem a pair of curtains, sew a straight line, one measly little line, Grrrrrrr Update: with perseverance, the curtains were finished, and given back to a happy customer (my partner's granddaughter)
